Congrats to everyone on your losses & keep up the good work!

I had one major cheat day - very stressful day at work Monday + had to work late... the worst part was that as I worked from home, I had the Biggest Loser on TV, and still kept snacking away. ugh

Oh well, got right back on track the next day, and despite the scale popping up for a few days, it came in at 128.3 this morning. So that's almost a pound down for me this week. I'm hoping this next week is a little more calm at work.

I think it's day 8 of my juice diet (can't call it a fast when I add a few almonds, beans and a small protein drink at night).

1-6-2013 165
1-11-2013 163.5
1-18-2013 160.5

Wish I could be happier about the loss.
When I eat well, or avoid cake or fattening food for a day I look in the mirror expecting to be skinny! Have to remember I'm in this triathlon/health thing for the long haul.

Yeah, this can be frustrating, you do want that reward for doing something good. Just gotta stick with it. I'm keeping my scale watching going, but also being more observant of the mirror. For me, the mirror shows better than scale, so i'm pleased so far.

Weight check. Im gonna give myself credit and go with a 213. So that is 216->214->216 now 213. Consistency has been a bit spotty with some family things, but still squeezed him some stuff. Just finished my cheat meal for the week of pizza and a beer!

Bad news: Weight is holding steady at 233lbs.

Good news: My uniform pants are growing. I keep needing to cinch my belt a little more each week. :-)

Awesome news: Half Mary training is moving along smoothly. :-D

enders_shadow - 2013-01-14 12:58 AM One way to give up G2 (lite Gatorade) FOREVER - get a nasty bottle. I was running late yesterday - sprinting in from a run to get daughter to soccer practice, so I just grabbed an old (and yes, the key is old) G2 from the pantry. Get in the car and start driving her, open the bottle & start drinking & get a nasty sip. Ugh - mold. In the bottle. Spit it out all over the steering wheel of the car, etc. Ewwwwww. I will live the rest of my life without drinking another G2. And since the primary G2 consumer in my house was with me, she has been warned not to put the flavors she doesn't like behind the new bottles - finish the old stuff first, girlfriend, or you'll get moldy G2 at soccer. :p

Love it!....not that you had to drink moldy G2....but that you are off it for life!

I am the same way with Diet Pepsi something....got to find a can with half a finger in it, or a mouse head or something....

Ewwww!!!! Did you take it back to the Store?

I'm still dealing with illness.  Staying off of the sweets, but have been having some bread.  Body is craving odd things during this plague.  I want pizza!  I don't even eat cheese,so no clue what is going on.  I have not eaten a salad in a week, I usually eat salad 2x a day!  With this illness I just want hot food, the thought of cold food is just not appetizing.  Such a bummer.

Homemade Roasted red pepper soup, with lots of garlic...that'll knock the bugs out of you! and it is nice and hot for this chilly time of year..

recipe please!!

Sorry this has taken so long...but here it is

Roasted Red Pepper Soup

4 red peppers (roast your own, or buy the bottled ones)

2-3 carrots shredded

2 cups shredded zucchini

2 cups diced tomatoes

2 roasted jalapenos ( seeded cleaned)

1 head of roasted garlic

6-8 cups of chicken/vegetable broth

Salt/Pepper and Paprika to taste

Chuck everything together in a big pot and bring to a boil over medium heat, reduce and simmer for 20-30 minutes. We use an immersion blender to puree it all up to a nice smooth consistency, but you could use a blender just as easily. Add water to thin it out if required and you can also throw in some plain full fat yogurt as a dollop in the middle of the bowl for some added creaminess!

139 for me this week, down a pound. Jeans are feeling looser at the hips but no difference at the waist, which is the opposite of what I'd like to happen

Congrats to all you losers and those shrinking!

Day 9 of juice fast started thinking alot about food. So decided to eat one day a week, should also keep my metabolism going. Only clean, whole foods though.
Kids made cupcakes last night and I'm just not interested. Amazing for me who was so compulsive around food, esp chocolate that family hides it from me so I don't eat their stuff. It is embarrassing my lack of control. Sometimes I ate something quickly so no one would see me.

Maybe I'm getting more calories in the juices than I think - apples do make them yummy, or maybe there is something about the nutrients - who knows.
Plan is to continue till I lose weight for beginning of training March 1 and to use my new taste buds to continue healthy eating after that.

First race of the year in the books (Frostbite 15K). Unfortunately, between my hubby's birthday last night and my traditional post-race fast-food celebratory meal, I'm going to have to be careful this week to get back on track & keep going down.

Started of 2013 with a bang.  Ran my first race of the season.  A Salute to Servicemembers 5K here locally and set a new PR.

Was shooting to come in under 27 minutes, well I did that and then some clocking a 23:45 which is just a shade under 8:00/mile and just a shade above puking threshold for me.  Was pumped about it.  The first of many PRs for me this year as I plan on running my first Olympic distance and first HIM distance race this year.

Now sure there was a time when I clocked a sub 18:00 3 mile run on a USMC PFT, but that was 16 years ago.  So all of my PR's are kept from Jan. 2012 when I got back into this whole fitness regimen.

Stay the course and stick with it, gains are sometime hard to come by but persistence will see them happen.

OOORAH, DEVIL DOG!!  Way to smash a goal all to hell!  LOVE IT!!
Kinda makes me jealous.  :-)  I'm planning to do a 5K in April, but I'll be running with a friend of mine who will be graduating from the Couch to 5K program... I promised to run at her pace, so I can't just go to blow it away.
Since I am training my rump off for a half marathon, I'm hoping to be ready for the sprint tri I wanna do on June 2.  My goal is to blast that 5K in about 25 minutes AFTER swimming 750m and riding 20K.  My goal for that sprint is < 1:20:00!!

Again, OOORAH!!  And you're totally correct: Stay the course and stick with it, gains are sometimes hard to come by but persistence will see them happen!

Alas sir it wasn't meant to be.  I was under contract to the Marine Corps through my college ROTC program at Texas A&M.  However, while in Quantico at OCS I tore up my knee on a hump and became medically ineligible as I had already had that same knee surgically repaired once thanks to football.  It was in the mid 90's and the military was not in need of as many people as it was today therefore we parted ways amicably.  So while it truly was a Marine Corps PFT that I clocked such a great time on, in the end I did not ever have the priviledge to serve.

Apologies for statements that may have been misleading, but do want it known that I did not have the chance to serve despite the desire to do so.

My eternal thanks to those who do.

Been doing very well on my diet this week.  Last night was Baked Tilapia with a strawberry salsa, a balsamic cucumber and berry salad, and avacado "fries"

Delicious.

Working out going well too.  Rested Sunday, 3 mile run Monday morning, spin class this a.m., and probably a 4 mile this evening.  Scale should be good to me come Friday if I keep this up.
