Now I've got to hope that Thanksgiving weight comes off as easily as it went on. That is usually the case, right?

Cant wait to start training on the bike. Right now I'm Marathon training and it is consuming every bit of my time and attention. Race is 12/29 and it can't come soon enough. My ice baths after some intense sessions is getting me ready for the CDA swim, ha ha.

I'm in! 2nd Ironman for me and 2nd time in Coeur d'Alene. Did my last one in 2012 and can't believe I am doing it again. Also can't believe the race was still open this late in the year. The cold water and hills must have chased some people away. Just starting my training after taking almost 2 years off from any racing. This is going to hurt!

Hi I did something crazy and signed up . I have some questions and sorry if they have been asked over and over again

1) the bike course is most ally high way so how bad are these hills or are they just steady pedaling all the way.
2) I have called and most hotel are filling up and super duper expense. any advice and parking situation. On race morning if I had to drive to the race in the morning.
3) are there any BTers wanting who would want to rent a house. Or condo and share costs

Welcome!

I'm live in CDA and can answer any questions you have.

1) the hills on Highway 95 are pretty steep. I have posted the hills, elevation gains and the percentage of the grades earlier in this thread.

2) last time I checked, I found hotels as cheap as 55.00 per night I believe.

3) go to the Facebook page for Ironman Coeur d'Alene because there were people talking about hosting athletes... You may be able to find a place for FREE!

Currently the lake is 44.2 degrees... Would anyone considering swimming in it with a full sleeve? I ask because I don't know what 44.2 degrees feels like with a full sleeve and I'm considering giving it a try.

Short answer: no.

And, its feels damn cold. I don't need to get in to confirm that. Why would you need to know what 44 feels like? Actually, I think trying to swim in that with just a full sleeve sounds dangerous.

No specific reason... I don't HAVE to know how it feels. I just want to do something different and hopping into the lake for 20 minutes just sounded fun.

That would take into account if you were basically naked in the water. With a neoprene cap, booties and my full sleeve suit, I figure I could "survive" 20 minutes.

I get it, not a good idea...

I've got the whole week off fortunately, and trying to convince myself to not do too much. Our weather has been fantastic, and my goal has been to hit Jan. 1 healthy and ready to go. I know there is nothing magic about that date, but just trying not to overdo it this week. But, definitely looking forward to the focus that is coming next week.

I'm with you on being light this week. Might as well, I cannot imagine having a light week will hurt your cardio much. Enjoy the week because it's about to get change! You may miss the off season when you are 18 miles into your long run.
