Harbaugh gestures back to him, says something, and they both run off the field. In the postgame, Sherman came out with this: “I told him good job, good game, but he didn’t give me nothing back,” he said, according to NFL.com. “I guess sportsmanship doesn’t go both ways.” It is pretty clear Sherman did it just to be able to say something about it after the game. Forgive me if I am not willing to ignore that in looking at this. Originally posted by uclamatt2007 Originally posted by JoshR http://deadspin.com/sherman-crabtree-watch-and-listen-to-their-micd... So Sherman went up to Crabtree and said "heckuva game" If you think it was anything more than a passive aggressive attempt at getting a reaction out of Crabtree, you are fooling yourself. He celebrated (rigthfully so) for a a minute in the corner of the endzone, then sprinted half way across the field to "congratulate" Crabtree. I think this more like the slap on the he gave Harbaugh after the first meeting in Seattle. Funny, I didn't see Sherman congratulating anyone after the loss in San Francisco. Did you not play any sports? It's the winner who sticks his hand out and say's "good game"......geez....let it go. I forgive you. So talent and all, and a bit of smack talk and gamesmanship aside... is he incapable of being a di( from time to time? I mean come on... it's OK to just admit he can be a di( from time to time without taking away from his many other talents and accomplishments. Now he's finally back pedaling and apologizing. He said coming from Compton he has always had to fight the reputation he is a "thug" and he is much more than that.... but people have this weird habit of judging actions instead of intentions... if he actually wants people to stop seeing him as a hood rat... then perhaps not acting like one would go a long way towards that end. This discussion will never be solved.... this has been going on for a long time... and there are many many talented players in Hall of Fame than never did the antics that the young players of today do... all the "me me me" stuff. Now it's subjective... entertainment to some, disrespect to others. Getting in your opponents head by talking smack is indeed gamesmanship and one way to win. Regardless, at some point... these things happen, and many point out it's crossing the line. No wrong or right here... some like, some don't.... but many many people have concluded he crossed the line. Those are the risks you take when you put yourself out there like that in front of the team. If you are going to do that, then you get all that comes with it. If you don't like it, don't do it. True enough.......but it's all entertainment, right? It's not life.....football is not life, and football players in the course of a game are not normal citizens. Go hit someone like they do and watch what happens. I can't imagine what it takes to play in that league, or get yourself ready for those collisions. I give him a break...... especially in light of the good he does in the community, the respect he garners from his team mates, and the good words from those who know him well. He's on the mind of Manning and the Broncos' offensive coordinator........bet that. |

Absolutely, I just don't have a problem calling a duck a duck... or at least like you are saying... he might not be a duck... but he quacked like one that day. I don't even see him as a thug. I don't see him as a terrible person. My only objection is he went outside the game and the team and he got personal with his attacks. That's not part of the game... that is all him and his problem. So he deserve what he gets from that. He's young, he's still immature... or at leas I was at that point. He can learn.... hopefully we all do... and he stops doing stupid things. Life goes on.
And I disagree about sports... it is life. Not that it "matters". Yes it is technically "entertainment". But it's the last thing we have where we can watch struggle, triumph, victory, failure, the seasons... Sure it's just a bunch of athletes... but it is much more to the public... and I know you get what sports is and can be. So there is much more to watching athletes besides just watching a bunch of spoiled celebrities and prima donnas. We certainly love talking about it. I have always wondered about NFL players... now only war vets understand war vets.... but to play football for your whole life, to go through the whole process of season after season and the structure that comes with it and all your team mates for easily 20 years or more in some cases.... and then just retire before 40 and be cut loose as a civilian... I just think that is a real trip. Obviously all the training, dedication and hard work that all athletes endure is just as a amazing... but ya, definitely a different class of folks the average Joe will never get. ...and speaking of collisions.... just what exactly does a guy have to do to get himself up to launch himself 60 feet into the air over a huge chasm at 50 mph on a skate board.
Like when Peyton Manning comes back from 4 neck surgeries at age 37 and has the greatest year ever as a QB, gets his fith MVP, and becomes the only player in NFL history to take two different teams to the Super Bowl and wins... GO BRONCOS!!!! Edited by powerman 2014-01-23 12:48 AM |

This actually appears to be good for him so far. Call me out of touch but I had no idea who Sherman was before he gave that interview. Now much like Miley Cyrus everyone and their dog knows who he is. Now if he cuts the crap from now on he is in a much better position. I don't think that was his intent, but it is an interesting side affect. Apparently you have never heard of American Idol... I have always wondered about NFL players... now only war vets understand war vets.... but to play football for your whole life, to go through the whole process of season after season and the structure that comes with it and all your team mates for easily 20 years or more in some cases.... and then just retire before 40 and be cut loose as a civilian... Like when Peyton Manning comes back from 4 neck surgeries at age 37 and has the greatest year ever as a QB, gets his fith MVP, and becomes the only player in NFL history to take two different teams to the Super Bowl and wins... GO BRONCOS!!!! His interaction with Crabtree is plausible either way. He could have been acting like a db and rubbing it in Crabtree's face with the "heckuva game". Or he could have realized that the game came down to the two of them and he came out on top, while that felt amazing for him, it will feel terrible for Crabtree for the next 7 months. We will never know his true intention in "congratulating" Crabtree. IMO, it really doesn't matter much. Crabtree gave a poor response no matter the intent, then Sherman gave a poor interview. At the end of the day I am looking forward to Peyton crushing the Seahawks. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Remember they're playing outdoors, In NY. Seahwaks can and WILL run the ball effectively against a porous Denver run defense. Broncos can barely run the ball on GOOD days. Seahawks D is too much for even Payton Manning. DBs will knock Welker off his routes and Manning gets sacked 4+ times. Seattle runs away with this +10 points. GO SEAHAWKS! |

Seattle runs away with this +10 points. GO SEAHAWKS! LOL, more uninformed nonsense! Yeah, Seattle is SOOOOO much better at the run than Denver! PLUS Denver has Peyton. Of COURSE they are going to throw more and rely on the run less. I'm actually surprised they ran so much. Seattle averaged 4.3 per carry, Denver was 4.1. Basically just as effective, Seattle just rushed more. Again, go figure when you have Wilson vs Manning.
So, speaking of passing. Denver is #1 at 5444 yards. Seattle? 26th at 3236. A difference of 2208 yards or 138 a game! It's funny to say how much inferior Denver's running is to Seattle and not mention the passing disparage! |

Seattle runs away with this +10 points. GO SEAHAWKS! Where did you get that from? New England couldn't run the ball effectively at all, and they were the hottest running team in the league the last few weeks. For the entire 2013 regular season, Denver and Seattle both gave up 1626 rushing yards, and were tied for 7th best in the league as far as rushing defense. Their yards per carry were identical (420 and 422 attempts for a 3.9 avg). Seems like Seattle's run defense is just as "porous" as Denver's. As far as Seattle's run game being far more dominant. Their yards per carry for the regular season is 4.3 (tied for 12th) and Denver's is 4.1 (tied for 19th).

It's funny to say how much inferior Denver's running is to Seattle and not mention the passing disparage! Looks like you beat me to the rushing argument, but to be fair, Seattle's pass defense ranks far better than Denver's. About 80 yards per game difference. It can be partially explained when you consider Denver's average margin of victory and that teams are forced to pass against them early and often, but there is quite a difference. I see this being a pretty close game. I think both running games and running defenses are somewhat similar...maybe a slight edge to Seattle. There is a big disparity in passing offense and defense. Seattle has a crummy pass offense and a great pass defense...and the Denver vice versa (their pass defense is not crummy...but not "good" either). Slight advantage to Denver. I think the 2.5 point line favoring Denver simply comes down to the fact that in a close game, less than 5 minutes left in the 4th quarter...you rather have Peyton regardless of who the defense is. I expect a close game. I just hope it goes under. Edited by Jason N 2014-01-23 12:57 PM |

Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Seattle has played far better defenses this year than Denver. Not surprising given that most of the best D's are in the NFC. For rushing defense, Seattle has played the #1 (2x), #2, #4 (3x), #9 (2x). That's 8 out of 18 games against top 10 rushing defenses. Denver played against the #10 rushing defense. That's it. In the playoffs the Seahawks faced the #19 and #4 run defense and ran for just under 300 yds in 2 games. Also, Beast Mode. Enough said. I think the key to this matchup is Seahawks O vs Denver D. We all know Denver can air it out with one of the best passing offenses of all time and the Seahawks have one of the best pass defenses of all time, but I expect they will get some yards/points. The key will be what can the Hawks do on offense. Everyone acts like the Hawks O sucks, but they don't understand the game plan Carroll runs. Wilson is a very good passer, borderline elite even. Yards per attempt this season goes Foles, Rodgers, Manning, Wilson. TD % goes Foles, Manning, Wilson. Wilson doesn't throw the ball a ton so his stats look mediocre, but that is misleading. What Wilson does effectively is make big plays with his arm/legs and not turn over the ball. I expect a close game, but I think the Hawks D matches up very well vs. Denvers O. They have 3 all-pro's in the secondary in Thomas, Sherman and Chancellor. I'm just waiting for Welker to try a pick play on Chancellor. Last time they played each other, if the current rules were in place, Welker would have left the game and not returned with a concussion. Manning is the quickest in the league at getting rid of the ball, but the matchup will be, can Denver's WR get off the line of scrimmage quickly enough to keep the timing going or will the Hawks CB's jam them and the DL will get to Manning. Whoever wins that will determine the flow of the game. I predict we see playoff Manning show up though and the Hawks win 28-21. |

And Seattle is the best rushing team they have faced. Saints had #2 pass offense in League and Seattle had little problem with them. Payton Manning is a great story...famous dad, Field general...neck...etc...blah blah. But he has as many SB rings as Trent Dilfer, which is one less than ELI Manning has. I hope it's a great game, but in a really cold, windy stadium with bad footing for receivers to make their breaks on trying to get seperation from the best DBs/CBs in the league and a slick ball. Seattle has the edge. |
