Hey, Sam, and all!  Count me in for the meeting and dinner.  It's too expensive for me to bring the whole fam to the dinner, and it'd be great to me everyone who can make it.  I've learned tons from all the posts everyone has put up and continue to!  None of my friends do anything like tri's (most think that I must be out of my mind), so it's been a tremendous encouragement for me, even if we are a community of crazies ; - )

Tailwinds, Todd

My wife is joining me at the dinner.  So be sure to note that there are 2 of us and not just me.

Also, I am definitely swimming that Saturday morning.  I'll be the one with the Alaska tan--one shade darker than a styrafoam cup.

Thanks to Rocketman for the encouraging words. This has been a week of high and lows. I felt great on Tues and did a bike workout. Felt even better on Weds and tried to run. No problem during the run. Later that day did a 2mile ows in windy chop which was a huge confidence boost. However woke up this morning and my calf pain was back but now on the medial side. I was able to ride today and get through it ok. I will see what tomorrow brings. However it's looking like I might have to go I to this race not running for over 2 weeks. My question for Rocketman is-what do you do in these last 2 weeks. It's illogical that even though I have done all the work for the past 6 months that there is going to be enough cash in the bank to get me through the race not having run in 2-3 weeks.

Oh yeah, I'm so down with the coffee beforehand! (midnight shifter here). I'll be alone for dinner as my family will not be coming in until either late friday or early sat. I'm not meeting up with anyone for the dinner so I would love it if I could eat dinner with some of you folks so that I have someone to talk to!

I'm also hoping to meet up with some of you for the practice swim Sat morning...

I love Starbucks, coffee is my addiction! I am a gold card member with them. I have a Starbucks espresso in a can planned for my special needs bags. You will have plenty of people to talk to.

I love all Zoots, the ones in the pic are my racers I use for sprints. I was wearing them to get the mail. I despise and loath flip-flops so I don't own a pair and refuse to ever buy a pair, instead when I need to go outside briefly I slip on these Zoots.

How long is everyone's training this weekend? My plan calls for a 4 hour ride and 90 minute run including some small swim.

klauser - 2011-08-11 11:36 AM I realized yesturday that my summer is almost over. I have to be back at school next Wed (being a teacher). IMKY is also just around the corner. I am not sure which one I am more ready for. My oldest started tackle football last night and we jst got a new kitten. I have a million things that need to get done. Well back to work. At least I already got a run in this morning. Oh by the way I cannot wait to see everyone in Louisville. Even if I do not get to see all of you in person just knowing you are on the course (ahead of me) will make it more fun.

I read a race report the other day where 2 BTers in 2008 or 2009 met up on IMKY course and ran 25 miles together to help each other finish the race.  I anticipate being in a bad place on the run (especially after the turnaround near the finish line) and I think something like that would be kind of cool.

That was me - Amy (amymengel) and mark (bamaDC).  It was so GREAT!!!!

Are you planning on running sub 7's? I don't think that I could keep up with you.

Last big weekend for me.

Tomorrow is a 3 hour run and a 1.5 hour ride. Sunday will be 100 mile bike / 1 hour run brick. Looking forward to all of it except for the bike in the rain on Sunday.

I have a question about the bike aid stations anyone who has done Louisville or other IronMans. Are the bike aid stations crowded? On my previous halfs, I was able to ride straight through the stations and grab bottles of perform/water from the hands of the volunteers while in motion, but these were fairly small races. Is that possible at Louisville or do you have to stop and get off? Does it vary by station (i.e. early stations crowded, later ones not so much)?

I am trying to decide on whether I want to fully load my bike with 3 bottles in transition or if I should plan on being able to pick up fuel as I go along. What's everyone's plan on this?

Should be able to SLOW DOWN and ride right through. There will be multiple opportunities at each station in case you miss a hand-up.

I had no issues riding through in 2009.  With the hills, the bike section will be pretty spread out with regards to the riders.

I'll be doing my last 100 miler Saturday and then a 1-1.5 hour swim on Sunday. Monday will be my last long run of 2-2.5 hours.

You should be fine. Heck you might even be a little faster from all the rest. With an injury like that you definitely don't want to try and push through it during training and make it worse. Maybe try some elliptical or pool jogging just to keep the running muscles firing up until race day.

I started with a slight headcold that turned into a borderline pneumonia...shortness of breath, weak, fever of 102...ahhhhh went to the doc..on antibiotics and rest..YES...rest...not sure if I can do this race eventhough I have been doing all the training....

what to do...what to do... I know if the race was this weekend for sure I would not survive it!!

Any thoughts? ideas? I guess if I can't well...there will be more but it is so upsetting!!!

Spoke with orthopedic surgeon. He suggested to not do anything besides swim until KY. He and my chiropractor both assured me that I will not lose a large amount of endurance. I hope they are right. I have not ran since the 1st.

That means 4 weeks without running and little to no biking. This is going to be interesting...

did a half last year with bronchitis, ifficult yes, impossible no.  What i learned is to focus on pacing and no going too hard.  swim and bike went fine but did end up doing a lot of walking in the run.  The antibiotics will work but they will also drain the life out you so rest rest rest!  you'll be fine on race day, just focus on that moment in time and worry about whats coming ahead when you get there.

Mine is very similar.  90 minute run. 4.5 hour ride / 45 min run brick (aerobic only on the ride - no hard group rides).  I'll probably throw in an hour swim somewhere.

Plan: 2-mile OWS this eve, 70-mile ride w/10-mile T-run Sat, 2-hour trail run and 2-mile OWS Sun.

btw...Did Bikram yoga for the first time this morning.  What a sweatfest!  105-degrees for 90-minutes - much hotter than the other "heated" hour-long yoga classes I've taken.  I didn't feel faint or dizzy, but it was definitely a shock to the system.  I paid for an introductory week, so I'm going to try and take advantage of as many classes as possible.  Probably every morning next week.

Did a 13.1 mile run at planned IM marathon pace last night.  Felt pretty easy.  I wanted to try to work on holding back and feeling like I *could* be running faster - not racing.  I'm sure it's going to feel much different on race day.
