Pretty happy with that after a brutal 6 mile trail run yesterday. Is there a RA group near you? It's pretty cool that you have the ability/flexibility to jump into these whenever they suit your fancy. Congrats on the PR! well, it is not ideal but with cancer scans every six months I tend to live each month like they are my last and never want to miss an opportunity to utilize the gift I have been given. today was awesome. So proud of you, Steve! Glad today was awesome and that you make the most of every minute. Keep up the good work. I'm sending many good thoughts for continued clean screens. |

Member 2689 Denver, CO | Subject: RE: Mad Manatees 2015.3 CLOSED (or Poptarts? Pet pics?) Okay, one last post before I start on what I'm supposed to be doing at work. Tom, congrats on your great race. Even with a mechanical, you didn't panic and ended up with a race to be proud of. I completely agree with your statement, "You'll be surprised what you can do when you try." Hands, way to rock your race! I'm pulling for a 2nd OA for you - you can do it!! Judi, good job on your race too. Despite how challenging it was, you hung in there and got 'er done. I'm right there with you on the day-after ouchiness. I had a tough race yesterday. It was really, really hilly and 1/2 mi. longer than it was supposed to be. The rabbits at the front were a bunch of 8-9 y.o. boys who started us off in the wrong direction. The whole thing was pretty disorganized, with only 1 mile marker and 1 water station. I did pretty well until after 3 mi., when I let myself walk--on the flats, of all places. Given that I haven't been running much this summer due to knee issues and most of training runs have been shorter than 4 mi. and flat, I guess I didn't do all that bad. It was also probably more mental than physical too. Paying attention to how my body feels is sometimes more of an impediment than a help. In any case, I finished MOP and my time wasn't too horrendous. Mr. Mary wasn't feel too great so he opted for the 13 mi. race instead of the 30 mi. one. Despite not feeling good, he still managed 1st place OA!!! He enjoyed it a lot and now has a benchmark for what he needs to work on to get ready for his big ride next fall in Idaho. I'm so proud of him!!! |

And dancing... there was video Well that sounds pretty epic to me. Apparantly my wife has video of me from an Oktoberfest party that I happened upon after my race Saturday. Was just popping into my favorite brewpub at about 11:30 for a quick beer and sandwich before my weekend chores. Unbeknownst to me the parking lot was blocked and they had setup tables and stage, bbq, bouncy toys, etc. for Oktoberfest party. didn't get home til 10:30 after one of the funnest days/nights. There is something about Oktoberfest that I just love (maybe the 6.2% fest bier). I am usually a pretty quiet, mild mannered guy but I ended up with about 40 new friends, won the yodelling contest, did the chicken dance half a dozen times, led the conga line, and got a sparkly chicken tatoo. |

That is awesome! DH has a Polish and German heritage so I married in to that culture. By boys grew up going to Oktoberfests and polka parties. It's such a fun atmosphere. Glad you enjoyed yourself. |

Extreme Veteran 2263 Ridgeland, Mississippi | Subject: RE: Mad Manatees 2015.3 CLOSED (or Poptarts? Pet pics?) Got a HIM in 3 weeks. Haven't been running since June really. I'm wondering if at this point I would be better doing 3-4 4 mile runs at an easy pace instead of trying to cram long runs on the weekend, especially since i haven't built to a 10+ mile run. I probably should be worried about the swim too, but the run is more of a concern. At least my bike will be ready Edited by msteiner 2015-09-14 1:50 PM |
