Ooh thanks! My dvr is supposed to record anything bike related but I better check it to be sure.

Oh and for my most recent (I have multiple) N=1

Brad and I had relatively similar training mileage  but mine was more about frequency and his more distance. My typical long run was 16 miles (I got one run at 34ish) I think? , his are more like 25-30 with longest being at 50. We both seemed to run very comparably for the PCT run.

Got a HIM in 3 weeks.  Haven't been running since June really.  I'm wondering if at this point I would be better doing 3-4 4 mile runs at an easy pace instead of trying to cram long runs on the weekend, especially since i haven't built to a 10+ mile run.

I probably should be worried about the swim too, but the run is more of a concern.

At least my bike will be ready

I'd probably stick with the more managably sized runs.

For KIRSTIRON and NYNY ... hand to heart, eyes closed in remembrance. Deep love to you at a deep time.

Yay IRONDAZZERS!!!!!

Just a proof of life, we've been w hizzing around Europe, can't complain about a thing (except Swiss drivers, they are complete mofos and this is said by an Indonesian who drives in what is officially the world's worst traffic with the world's worst drivers) ... yes, we've had usual travel-type panics and some awful moments but no harm no foul and we'll be laughing about it in a few months. OVERALL--time of our lives. Especially for Kingsley, who grew up poor (Aussie poor, not Indo poor, but still) and though he's traveled everywhere for sport mostly he saw the insides of cheap hotels and expensive swimming complexes.

It's not been all fun and games, some massive family & company problems (related, blech) and we've had to do shytetons of work in between as well.

Considering what poor health I was in / have been in, all of this plus an Ironman to 32K of the run has felt like a sacred gift, like every day is a sacred gift (which I believe it is even if I feel shytty but feeling NOT shytty is like sacred-plus or something).

THANK YOU for all the amazing support here there and everywhere. Doing my best to keep my nose above water, it's just really long days! (That nevertheless go by quickly ... )

P.S. we're in Croatia now 'til 25 Sept (with IM 70.3 on the 20th). So far it's been France - Italy - Switzerland - Slovenia - Croatia

Good to hear from you and even better that you are having such a great time.  Sounds like a wonderful trip seeing the sights in Europe.  Hope you get a chance to see Dubrovnik.  It was one of my favorite places in the area.

Welcome Laura! And, what Ben said

Laura is a BT classic. I know her as Ms. Vivaldi, or more recently, Mrs. Vivaldi. Also the best legs on BT. Yum.

I hope she shares about all this!

I agree with everyone else that you should definitely just stick to frequency rather than distance. Throw in 1-2 mile recovery runs on days inbetween your 4 milers as well too. That will get you more miles/endurance without risk of injury.

I was IM tracker stalking as well. I started to get worried about you on some of the bike splits, but those must have been the ones with big hills. Way to gut it out!

Only if you can get a wicking version.  Don't know if they make running shoes in that style, though.

I'm sure if Yanti has time she can elaborate on being in a Guinesss record holding largest group of running Elvis's and offer suggestions to the costuming.

So fun!  Not sure about the full marathon but the half was definitely NOT a PR event -- so crowded.  Fun but crowded.  I want to do it again next year.  I don't know of Kevin will approve or not.

The full gets to go down Fremont Street and the lights there.  The half turns before the neon on Fremont.

If DW goes with you, be sure to have a designated meeting place (inside Belagio at the corner of Las Vegas Blvd and Caesars would be good.  Pick a statue to meet at).  Kevin and I said we'd meet "at the chute" but the chute is freakin' long and slow and I escaped the herd before finding him.  I asked a nice man with a phone to please text him and that is how we finally found each other.

THIS album  http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/Albums/Album/8933

I made my own Elvis costume but there is a lady in San Diego I think who actually makes dry-tech Elvis costumes! Basic ones ran about $100 but that was in 2006 (or 2007) so they'd be a bit more now.

She's still around and they are still cheap!!! Wow! She was featured in some publications I think. But this is her and a bunch of my friends have gotten great stuff from her.

Thanks for the memories Unlike my husband (who would probably hold a world record for the athlete having set/broken the most world records, no joke), my own world records are few and far between so I hold them dear

Very cool.  I like some of their other designs too.  Much better than what's available at the LRS.

My two cents is that while you are there make a visit to red rock. It's only 20 minutes from downtown Vegas

DS2 would have loved that for his motorcycle but he is in the process of buying a mini cooper so I guess the roadie will go in the back.

Is it bad that all I can think of when I see this is that if you spill water on yourself at the aid stations, the spectators are going to get a lovely show?
