Melon Presser 52116 | Subject: RE: Mad Manatee Mentors, Part 2! CLOSED LOL, no bound up--lungs need to keep expanding well and the rib and tissues to heal correctly in place. I did just have breakfast with an ER doctor and stayed at a much nicer place than Holiday Inn Express last night I'm pulling out all the stops to try and get a spot for IM Melbourne in 3 weeks. |

Oh no, all that would be normal--I think this wonderful local piglet has fallen in love with my sister and I. We were sad that you can't just have the legendary lake trout here--you have to catch it yourself and then places will cook or smoke it for you. He showed up at our door with a Manuka-honey smoked trout that he had caught and smoked himself--probably the best thing I've ever eaten in my life. Incredible. He offered to take us out on his boat this afternoon to show us 'round and so we are staying a bit longer in Taupo than expected Melbourne makes sense. It's as expensive as all fork, but--I'm flying back through there anyway, I'm in peak Ironman shape, it's a great course, I have so many friends there I can stay with/sherpa ... a lot less expensive than taking a whole 'nother trip and going through yet another round of Ironman training when anything can happen. It's also long enough that the rib will likely be fine. Yes, the ER guy checked it out a bit |

Melon Presser 52116 | Subject: RE: Mad Manatee Mentors, Part 2! CLOSED Of course i'm going to overdo it, that's what I do The bike is getting some new parts at the piglet crackhouse (LBS) here and what they don't have, I'll add in Auckland (like new aerobars/elbow rests and cabling). But the frame is fine, just scraped. Hanger needed to be hammered back--it and the derailleur took the brunt of the fall and yep, I really only did have the two highest and two lowest gears to cycle in that 2nd lap--amazing I got as far as I did! |

Looking forward to meeting everyone from BT as much as I am the race. I wish I could be there... Me too! The more the better. Looking forward to meeting everyone, but meeting Salty in person is going to be the highlight of my weekend! Maybe I will start in the very, very front of the race, so that I can feel that brush of cool air as she goes racing past me! |

Would love for you to do Melbourne - for the party if nothing else! I'm still 30% doing it.... You know I'll sherpa and support and stalk my azz off for you. I'd offer you a room but I got a house pest. if you can't get in - Cairns young lady I'm sure Macca could pull a string or two for you. After not finishing Abu Dhabi he may have to fit in another race pre-Cairns, I'm praying it's Melbourne! Anyway - happy healing with piglet doctor....I'm up for a full exam I'm sure! I walked Artemis to school - ouch. That calf is a b*stard. Edited by jobaxas 2013-03-04 5:17 PM |

Please promise us that you will only race if you are given the all clear by the doc (however I must say you are looking extremely well in your photo). How are the joints going? How, what, when and how carried should I eat/drink in runs over an hour? Yesterday I did 7 miles which took pokey ol' me 1 hour 20 min. I ate a Gu around mile 4.5 or 5, I think. Didn't take water or liquids along because carrying my handheld water bottle thingie that far didn't sound like it would be fun, but if that is what I need to do, I will HFTU. Do the manatees eat gels, gummies, real food and how do you carry said food/drink? I'm guessing over an hour drink something other than water? I use an amphipod handheld. It has a pocket that will hold gels. The waist packs work well for some people. I am not one of those people. |
