Tony--thanks for the advice on uploading via Training Center.  It worked like a charm.  I still think TP is really bad.

Sam--isn't Lonestar like an ocean swim?

Nah, it's in a bay isn't it?  Saltwater even better.

LOL, I tried my wetsuit in the pool yestersay and was swimming 10 seconds per 50 faster.

Have you ever combined the wetsuit and salt water?  That is a killer fast combination!  Just remember there is floating sand in ocean water and sand can chafe!!!   BODY GLUIDE WILL BE YOUR FRIEND!!!

I second that but it has been my experience that if you run into trouble...like a mass start or just need to cruise for a minute, that breaststroke under these conditions is impossible for me.  The buoyancy of the suit is multiplied with the salt water and I can't get my head up to breath.....but it is fast when you are getting after it.

Subject: RE: Swim motion sickness
Tobey91 - 2010-01-15 1:51 AM So I have a rather odd question to pose to the group:

Last night I got in the pool for the second time since October.  (I have been focusing on running this winter.)  I did 1500 meters at a steady pace, trying to focus on bilateral breathing and keeping my elbow high.  The workout itself felt fine.

But when I got out of the pool, I felt nauseous.  It was almost like I was seasick or motion sick.  I had intended to do a brick ride, but that neuseous feeling prevented me from doing more than about 15 minutes on the bike.  And it actually persisted for the next couple hours until I went to bed.

Has anyone else experienced this sort of thing?  Any idea on the causes or ways to prevent/mitigate it?

Thanks

-William

Vertigo.... Take some dramamine before your swim.  It can make a huge difference.  Also if the water is chilly trying wearing a swim cap (and if you are already wearing one... try 2).

Back from the LBS with a new tube (turns out a 60mm stem wont work on a Jet 60... duh I didn't think that one through)  and trainer tire mounted and the PT is ready to ride.  My voice partially came back today, but I feel 100% better.  I have my holiday party tonight, but luckily its only a dinner so I may get a short workout in when I get home tonight.  I have missed two and today will put me at 3 days missed.  What would you suggest picking up from the missed workouts:

Wed: 30 recovery run, Long Swim (2000 yd, probably around 45 minutes including wu/cd)
Thurs: 1:20 Run, 45 Bike
Fri: 45 Recovery run, 1 Hr Bike
Sat: Nothing
Sun: Long Ride 1.5-2 Hrs

That is a mix up of my plan here and the Jorge's bike plan.  Looks like the next Off day is Thursday, my thoughts were:
Fri: 45 Bike
Sat: Long Swim, 30-45 Recovery run
Sun: Long Bike, 20-30 min easy run

Then starting over on Monday with the regular

Hope everyone has a great weekend! I am going to finish up a review I have been working on my blog this weekend if all goes well.  The Great Hydration Debate... a sneak preview at the title for the group members

quiet group today. Thought I would log on and have 5 pages to read at lunch.
No workout today, and its Friday so its "popcorn night". With butter and seasonings....Our fun night to snack.
Played in a poker tourney last night. Finished MOP so no money. But I doubled my money on Blackjack prior to the tourney and one one of the door prized for $100 at a restaurant in town. So ended up coming out ahead.

William, x3 on the ear plugs and just getting used to the distance/workout.  Just don't forget to takeout the ear plugs, last yr during my first sprint of the yr I left the ear plugs in by mistake for the whole race.  After the race I thought I somehow lost part of my hearing until my wife pointed to my ears..

On the high elbow thing, one of my old coaches used to tell me to pretend there is a large barrel on its side in the sky and for me to reach (on your toes) as high into the air with your arms/whole body and pretend to reach over the top side of the barrel and pull yourself over the barrel.

Talking to Reuben about Augusta, thought I'd throw this out there.  If you're even just thinking about going, Tony Sam Andy EVERYONE, call the Marriott now and make a reservation before it sells out.  You can always cancel with no penalty.  You have to call.  If you go online it says sold out.

Tony, thank you so much.  Using the method you describe is actually much easier than the old device agent.

Now, can anyone explain why my pc shut down halfway through a CT course?  I was thinking maybe it was my screen saver?  I can disable that and try again.  Any suggestions?  When I check comm ports in the options menu, it said "access denied" the other day.  Now, it says not found.  weird.  Like i said, if it's not one thing....it's another
