Wish me luck y'all ... I'm having this hindmost molar carved out of my face with a bit o' bone tomorrow (I know, that's perfectly normal for a molar extraction). Really dreading it but will be so glad not to live this way anymore either. This infection has really brought me to my knees.

Lots of comments on bottle setup.  I found through trial and error that I really like the single bottle between the bars and the Bontrager Speed bottle on the seat tube for HIM.  I do not need to get out of aero for either of them.  I do not like the single bottle behind the seat...just was not as easy to get too for me personally.

I duct tape my flat kit under the seat ala Rapp and that keeps it tidy.

Thanks, Axenhots! You know, nice piglet pictures always make me feel better. Tongue out Y'all thought I was here for the bikes?!

For those not in the know yet, "piglet" is not an age, gender, or even species-specific term. It is any yummy thing you just want to SQUEEEEEEEEze ...

axteraa - 2012-09-26 2:13 PM If you look at the whole ride Fred, I would say they were out for a ride (possibly mountain biking based on the speeds) and didn't stop the computer while driving home.  You can just flag the ride and I think it will be removed.

How do you 'flag' a ride?

Go to the actual full ride, not the segment and on the right there is a Flag Ride button.  I've never actually clicked on it to know what it does....

I don't like the behind the seat option either. Less convenient and easy to launch the bottle and cause a crash for another racer.

I do training rides sometimes with a 2 bottle rear setup as just an easy way to carry extra fluids, but not in a race anymore.

I'm not a huge fan of the behind the seat option either but it was the best I could come up with.  I've never launched a bottle or even had one seem to be loose (not suggesting it can't and doesn't happen...).  I deliberately put a metal cage back there that I could squeeze tighter to avoid it though.

Just remember to monitor this as the metal weakens from being bent.  One year at Wildflower 70.3 I got back to T2 and the entire cage had just broken away, no idea where or when.  Just glad it didn't happen on a big downhill and fall into my back wheel.

I've used the xlab behind the seat mounts with specialized rib cages.  Never came close to launching a bottle.  I don't use it anymore because it's a bit overkill for me.  I prefer to take bottle handoffs during races or stop every 1.5-2 hours to refill bottles during training.  If I had a situation in training where I needed to carry 4 bottles though, I would use it again.

OK I flagged it.

I feel reasonably petty for doing so, but as you said it was probably an honest mistake where he was driving out to ride his MTB and just never turned off the Garmin.

Then again maybe that was Bradley Wiggin's alter ego?

ETA: I am back to being to KOM guy.

Guess they dealt with it real 'quick like'

It instantly removes the person from the list pending further review.  When I did Mt. Hood last summer, I flagged the KOM person on the Timberline segment because he obviously did it on a motorcycle (~50mph uphill).  Oh and his photo was of him on a motorcycle!  haha... no brainer.

There's also a way to flag an entire *segment*... sorta buried in there.  You use it if you think the segment is dangerous or encouraging risky riding.  Times will no longer be shown on it and competitive rankings are no longer listed.

I seem to recall there's a way to send the Strava admins a message if you see a segment flagged like that and disagree.  In any case, I haven't seen any abuse of that feature in my area.  I know of ONE area that's flagged, and rightly so as it's on a busy multi-use trail with a blind turn.

There was a thread a while back (I think it was on ST) about other people using Strava for their own purposes.  Motorcycle riders, cars, etc.

So I was just looking back at some results for my mom this year (running)...

7 events, 1st in AG for every single one.  She didn't push up to marathon distance this year but she had a BQ last time she did it.

I think I have some work to do if I want to keep up Laughing

I told her about the genetic factor in my PE...

"Blame your father!"

(neither of them have ever been tested... haha).

I rode with a behind the seat cage all year, but racing I left it empty.  If I was riding an IM I might consider using it.

To get around ejecting bottles I drilled two holes and used camping shock cord to tighten the cage a little more.  One season riding with it, and zero issues.

An interesting discussion indeed (the ST one).

As for Kona, I predict a Macca, Crowie, Pete Jacobs run showdown.  They will hunt down Kienle who takes a Lieto style flyer off the front.  His slower swim (relatively speaking) will mean he can't get a big enough lead off the bike to hold it though.

For the ladies, I say Steffan will take a huge lead off the bike and hold on for the win while Rinny sets another run record trying to chase her down.  Leanda Cave will be in the mix as well.
