Eek, makes me shudder to think what I have ingested in the pursuit of triathlon. I think these were being given out after the raffle prizes at the Olympic Tri that Linda and I did last summer and we couldn't u-turn fast enough to get in line for a freebie! I should have bought one after that race, but forgot all about it until I recently smelled one of my trusty bottles...yuck! These were advertised heavily during the Tour de France last year Yep, I saw this too. Why don't people just stick their H20 bottles in the dishwasher to get them all the way clean? This is from an article posted by Livestrong.com and supports washing plastic by hand, something I had read is safer. It's hard to get the bottles super clean by hand, but with the bottom removable, it's so much easier! We use only glass lock to store food, but that is not so practical for bike bottles! Less toxicity, the better. 4. PLASTIC BOTTLES NEED HAND WASHINGWashing plastic in the dishwasher might seem like a quick and easy answer to getting your baby's bottles clean and disinfected in one step, but hold the detergent. The harsh chemical dishwasher detergents and the "scrubbing" and heating of the dishwashing process can cause plastics to break down more quickly than hand washing. Be sure to wash all your plastic by hand and to follow your doctor's recommendations for disinfection. Also, any plastic that shows any type of wear, such as burn marks from the microwave, scratches or "tackiness" should be tossed out. |

Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() SSMinnow - 2012-03-07 4:35 AM I know of at least one awesome MG peepette doing a little race this weekend. Who else is jumping on the train? If you're not quite ready to toe the line, take the time to visualize the last mile or two of an upcoming race. What are you thinking or saying to keep you strong to the finish? No races... My visualization I think is very distance specific... IM was all about "look what I just f****in did!!! I RULE" Sprints/Oly/5k/10k .... I honestly don't think I can process thoughts well. I would guess though they are "hold the puke in for a few more minutes.' |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() 5k season is starting around here. Maybe running on Saturday depending on schedule. I really struggle with negative thoughts at the end of races when I am behind on goal pace. When I am ahead it is easy |

Who else is jumping on the train? If you're not quite ready to toe the line, take the time to visualize the last mile or two of an upcoming race. What are you thinking or saying to keep you strong to the finish? Ha!! Maybe I'm a peepette? Yes, I am racing a half marathon on Saturday. I haven't run a half in a couple of years. Goal #1 is have fun and find some choice self-affirming words to get me through the last 2 miles. Loved Chrissie Wellington's article about this and even thought about holding my head high and smiling during a run I had on Monday that was less than ideal. None of my peeps entered with me (lame), so I'm running solo. Point-to-point race on familiar running grounds. After the race, I gotta get all cleaned up, don a cute dress and some heels and hit the town for my daughter's elementary school's annual auction. I hope my legs don't get stuck when I sit down for dinner. Good luck, Peepette!!!! Stay strong out there, Kyla! Will be praying your legs (co)operate at the big auction! Do you have time for an ice bath before you get into your little dress??? Maybe I am a peepette, too? I have a little race this weekend! It's a duathlon that I wasn't sure I was going to be able to pull off, but my foot's been behaving these past few weeks, so I'm going to give it a go. 10k run/ 40k bike/ 5k run! It will be my first duathlon ever... Strategy I was thinking, easy on the first run leg, bike like I stole it, and run the 5k with a good attitude. My thoughts on the last few miles are usually to tell myself to keep breathing deeply...keep pushing, stay strong, rinse, repeat...I hope to be saying those to myself on Sunday. |

Who else is jumping on the train? If you're not quite ready to toe the line, take the time to visualize the last mile or two of an upcoming race. What are you thinking or saying to keep you strong to the finish? In my last few minutes of a race I always tell myself: this is your last chance to give it all you've got, there's no point standing around after the finish line thinking I've still got plenty in the tank! |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Good luck, Kyla, Kim and Chet! Any other racers I missed? Positive affirmations- totally depends on the race distance and type. Although, almost every race I do use the " Only 1 mile left. You can deal with anything for 1 mile. " It works better when I'm "racing" though rather than out there just for fun. I find in the "just for fun" races I tend to be "done" before the finish. As in, I know I'm going to finish once there are only x amount of miles left, so what's the hurry. It used to be that I couldn't understand why someone would walk in the last mile, now I have been one of those people on many occasions. I need to work on that, lol. |

What are you thinking or saying to keep you strong to the finish? No racing here. I try to latch onto someone going at a faster pace than me and crank it up a notch for that last mile or so. I'm usually thinking "relax, relax, relax (for my legs)". That is about all my brain can handle at the end of a race. Maybe I need to switch to a reward related visual like Chrissie and her very large draft beer. |

No racing for me this weekend. Good luck, Kyla, Kim, and Chet! Some of the things that go through my head in the last mile of a race are "I can do this", "mind over matter", and "the faster I run the sooner I'll be done". Usually I just latch on to one and it plays over and over in my mind, especially "mind over matter". I like Doug's idea of visualizing inspirational scenes, I'll have to try that! |

He knows because he was running behind them the whole time - either because they were faster (maybe) or because he was staying behind them intentionally to catch the view (definitely)! Oh, and I think he proved with video that Julie had no grannie panties!
