dalessit - 2012-03-09 5:28 AM Anyone doing anything exciting this weekend?

I am coaching my 7 y/o girls soccer team and we have our first game tomorrow!  I am nervous.

Heading out for a 60 miler this morning.  Finally a nice day!

Trevor / John / Kyla - You three have been funny the last couple days.  Is this new?

Run or bike?

I've always been funny. When I'm sober though, I'm not as funny.

Swim.

You are back already? Nice. you must have plugged the holes.

Averaged 13 second per 100m but it was tough to keep track of the laps in the pool.  Closed some holes.. didn't need a plug

Dale- Can't imagine that age kids throwing projectiles at each other .  I am just happy when the girls head to the right goal.

On our cruise over Christmas, I ran 2:20 miles... it was awesome!!! The Garmin worked like a champ as the ship cruised along the ocean, and I ran soooooo f'ing fast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jealous of the 60-mile swim. I'm gonna do 65 tomorrow, just because I can.

If CHET can do 13 sec/100m. Imagine what you can do when you don't have those granny panties on.

I assume you don't swim in them?

Yeah, I am an idiot and volunteered to help out with Lacrosse, I wanted to be an assistant coach because I don't know much about the sport (never played, never watched, etc), I was an assistant for one practice, somehow now I am a head coach of 12 1st -  3rd grade boys wearing helmets, pads and carrying around 3 foot long sticks.

Needless to say I am online reading up on how you actually play the sport and all the rules....

Not sure why I do this to myself.  I am always doing good things for my kids!

Fixed that for ya.  Great sport, not as great as hockey, but great sport!

Oooof -- tough run!!! Not what I had hoped for -- about 3-4 min. off my PR, oh well. I think I went out a bit too fast -- first 5-ish miles were great and seemingly comfy, then the wheels sort-of fell off. Struggle fest to the end and I didn't have ANY kick at the end. NONE. Usually I can muster up SOMETHING, but not to day. <shrug>

Funny -- somehow during the race I locked the keys on my garmin. (I was trying to scroll to the screen that we just the clock, as I didn't want to obsess over pace/splits.) As a result, I couldn't stop the garmin at the end. As I drove home, I heard it beeping every mile, ha!!

Anyway, I've always wanted to run a flat half, but I think the truth is that my body likes the variety of hills. In any case, DONE!! Good luck other racers!!

You got it done and that's what counts!  Rest up and then give us ALL THE DETAIL in your RR.  And no "Georging it".

Nice job getting it done, Kyla! I agree, flat courses are harder, in a lot of ways, than hilly courses. The ups and downs give muscles and the mind more variety, so it doesn't get monotonous. Can't wait to read the race report! You're AWESOME!!!

I am so proud of you!  Sometimes the hardest races are the best ones, they teach us so much about ourselves.  You may not have had that kick at the end, but you got it done.  You are one tough mama!    Enjoy the auction, woman!

I hope you didn't wear them this way, it's the Baboon's A$$ style!

For some reason, this post made me laugh the loudest.  "Baboon's A$$" style!! Too funy

My excitement for the weekend was doing my taxes and FAFSA (for the 10 straight year, but I think this was my last).  I'm fighting off a cold, and I plan on winning.  Baby girl is home from I.U. for spring break!!  10 mi. run in the morning and then a lot of laying around enjoying the nice weather and being lazy.

Speaking of bike shorts, you girls have any favorites?

I am GREEEEEEEEN with ENVY over your 910. Positively beyond jealous. (Hey everyone, can you believe it?? Fatty got a 910!!!) Steve has one coming his way too -- so at least I can see one and touch one in person. (That's what she said.) Anyone want my husband's email address to put a bug in his ear about our anniversary in May or my birthday in September? (HA!! He has a rule about gifts -- if I ask for it, I don't get it, as he is all about the element of surprise. Don't get me wrong, he is an AMAZING gift-giver [that's what she said]... but if there is something I really want that he won't know about I have to be very clever in dropping subtle hints!!)

Favorite shorts for riding are Castelli's.  I wear them for all long rides, but change them to run. The pad is uber comfortable, but just a little too big for running.  For shorter distance tris I am testing out the new Castelli tri shorts.     I also have Oomphs and they are ok, not great.

I have some amazing Sugoi tri shorts that I just love!!! I wear tri shorts for all cycling, even centuries. More padding in cycling shorts = more chafing for me. Need to figure out the model of Sugois cuz I wanna get some more, and when/if I do, I'll post it here.

Good race, now have a large coffee! I had to drive home 3 hours after one early morning HM and I nearly fell asleep at the wheel, a coffee stop at McDonalds saved me. That was the one when I booked us all into a nice apartment by the beach but the rest of the family decided to go away somewhere else for the week - my fan club love watching me race NOT!

if you press the mode button (bottom left) at the same time as the up-scroll button (top right) on the Garmin it locks the keys, just do it again to unlock.
