Event warmup:

Was late as usual. Had a fight with my race belt, which kept coming undone. Thank goodness for safety pins.
Couldn't decide what to wear...wind chill of -5 made it cold. Did make the right decision in the end!

My HR went up to 172 at the end!!!
Course: Oh boy...it was pretty hard for a 5k. Started out fine with a few minor uphills. Then we hit a gravel road which was icy...not all out slippery but enough to slow you down. After the turn around we hit full blast 38km/hr winds plus still had to deal with the icy road. Once we hit pavement again, it was a relief only for about one minute. Then there was one hill, and then another long gradual hill to the end! Phew! Someone was pacing me at the end, so that was cool.

Fantstic race, Jen! Way to snap your old PB under crummy conditions!
I wish our race had prizes like yours... I could certainly use a cruise right now!

Excellent job braving those temps!  You can come down here and race in Florida any time!
