I would rather run at -10 than at 98. I just can't seem to take enough clothes off at 98 to be comfortable. At -10 one can always put on more layers.

I'm the exact opposite. I like exercising in the heat. But my body is more adapted to that than cold (native Zonie). This time of year I wait until the heat of the day (~ 70°F) to run or ride. I don't ever want to leave Tucson.

What's to be sorry for? Innuendo is a gift! Remember that. Reading your posts gives me a belly laugh. PC people bore me.

another thought. Innuendo is indicative of an evolved, yet dirty mind. What's wrong with that

Number 1:  I'm backordered for one of those fur lined comfortors.  Thanks Karl.

Number 2:  Maybe we should jam some newspapaper down there; that's how the TDF cyclists fight off the cold.

Number 3:  I stop running outside at 0.  But my distance goes down the colder it its.  But it's much more important to have decent footing than warmth...I can run and be cold, but I can't run and fall and slip and call 911 because "I've fallen and I can't get up!"!

Number 4:  Fromer's got us all killed...he ran 17 sunday, and I know the temp was under 10 degrees...Michigan, as a state, couldn't break 10F on Sunday, plus the wind.  That's weak.

Rick - but there is an easy way around this one!!! Get some grippers for your shoes - rubber pieces that just slip over your runner, with a series of small spikes on the bottom - I run with them from the first icy days through till spring.

Now you'll have to find a substitute reason for # 3 - sorry!

I can't say I have run in temps less than -10C (14F).  I don't have a way to comfortably protect my face yet.  And my feet freeze...can't stand too many socks resulting in tight running shoes.

I don't mind BEING outside when it is way colder, because you can wear boots, parkas etc. And I am a hearty Canadian after all.  Running is a different story!

I started reading this thread and immediately thought of Jack Lndon's To Build a fire when he describes how fast spit freezes depending on how cold it is. By the time I finished the thread I thought that instead of the moral of the story being that Man is not Master of his domain the real moral is that the guy in the story wouldn't have frozen to death if he were Master of his Domain. Apologies to Jack London and Seinfeld.
