Pre-race routine:

Things did not start out too well. Was up at 2:00 a.m. unloading everything I had in my system. Did not feel well at all. Mostly laid awake and went in and out of sleep with the nausea the rest of the night. After 5 trip or so to the bathroom in the morning I hoped for the best and the family headed to the park.
Event warmup:

Kelly and Aly were both running also. We dropped Nik off with some friends and went our seperate ways. I jogged for 5-10 minutes and then made a mad dash to the bathroom again. How many portajons are there again? Talked with Rabkaman and Sal at different points and we wished each other luck. Lined up in about the middle and off we went.

Comments:

I am very happy with my run. I had a goal of maybe breaking 2 hours at some point. I thought I could do it today but I would really have to push. I pushed-HARD. I just kept trying to bank up enough seconds every mile to ensure I could jog in the last mile if needed. Average heart rate was 177 so I would say I pushed hard enough. By the last 2 miles I was hurting pretty bad, but not bad enough to stop high 5ing all the kids who had their hands out. Amazing just how cool they think that is, and so do I.
What would you do differently?:

Wear one less layer.
Post race
Warm down:

Hit the finish line seeing the clock time under 2 hours and was feeling pretty good. Body was hurting real bad. Went 50 feet to get water and wanted to see Kelly finish. Unknown to me she was just a minute or so behind and I missed it, damn. Walked around and got updates from everyones finish times. Aly did her first chip timed 5k in under 24 minutes.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Extra weight as always. It is starting to come down-slowly. Seems like I should be losing it faster though.

Event comments:

I'm qorking on getting my nutrition nailed down for IM so I brought my drinks of Infnit on a fuel belt. Only bad comment about race was that apparently there was no water stations for about 5 miles in the middle. Really glad I brought my own.
KNOCKED ALMOST 12 MINUTES OFF PREVIOUS P.R.!!!!!!!!!

Dude, kick a$$ race! Way to lay it all out there and prove how far you've come in the last several months. All those hours on the road, treddy, trainer, and in the pool have paid off big time for you. Congratulations!

WOW!! I can't believe you took that much time off from your previous time, even after feeling sick in the night. How much fun to be running with Kelly and your daughter doing the 5K. 5K under 24...sign her up for cross country.

Congratulations on a great race. Just a warm up for what's to come.

OMG and Wow!  Great job!  That's serious determination to take that much time off on a race like that.  Really great.  Kudos to Kelly and Aly too.

Whoot Whoot!

Congrats on the PR!    I knew you'd smoke this race.  You've put in the work and now you've reaped the reward.

Well done my friend!
