My coach dropped the ball and didn't send me a workout today. I need a good swim workout.....maybe about 2000 yds or so.

I don't need something super complicated that looks like it was written in hieroglyphics. Maybe something like 20 x 100? 10 x 200? Descending times, or something like that?

Let me know what you think. If it helps, I'm training for IM Lou.

Straight through all on the same interval (i.e., no longer rest between distances), so it gets harder as you go (1:30 pace below)

1 x 400 on 6:00
2 x 300 4:30
3 x 200 3:00
4 x 100 1:30

=

2000

Thanks for the quick replies as I'm heading out now. Rather than decide on my own, I'm putting these workouts in a hat and drawing one out.

Hope everyone else has a good workout this evening, as applicable.

I generally swim to the other end of the pool, then turn around and swim back......repeat as necessary.

You beat me to it.  I thought I was the only one who did this.  My Wednesday swim was - jump in, swim 50 laps and then get out.  This is the model for all my swims with the only variable being the number of laps.  :-)
