Total Time = 1h 32m 23s
Overall Rank = 131/319
Age Group = 30-39
Age Group Rank = 11/59
Pre-race routine:

Got up about 6:00a.m. ate my normal breakfast, gathered my transition bag and headed to Portage, which is only about 15 min away. Normally I am traveling hours for a race. Meet up with some new BT'ers Suzy (ssminnow) Tracy and Jason. Very cool people!!
Event warmup:

Got my wetsuit on and swam out to the first buoy and back. Felt great.
Swim
  • 08m 2s
  • 437 yards
  • 01m 50s / 100 yards
Comments:

Extremely happy with this swim. This was my fastest swim to date for a sprint. Everything went perfect.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Transition 1
  • 01m 52s
Comments:

My transitions times have been very slow lately, so I tried to pick up the pace a bit and I was happy I came in under 2 min. Wetsuit came off great.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Bike
  • 50m 17s
  • 16 miles
  • 19.09 mile/hr
Comments:

Great course. A few slight up hill climbs nothing major. Stayed in big ring the whole ride. Again, my biking has been very strong this season, so I am very happy with this ride! I rode with one bottle of perp and about mile 3 took a drink and went to put it back in the cage....missed the cage entirely and watched it roll down the hill..Uggggg. So no real nutrition on the bike except water in my aero bottle.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Transition 2
  • 01m 6s
Comments:

Very happy with this transition time. Helmet came off, running shoes went on and I didn't mess with putting my running hat on until I left T2, hence the better time.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Run
  • 31m 8s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 10m 02s  min/mile
Comments:

Not happy with this run at all. Probably my slowest run to date for a sprint. Not even sure what was wrong. I actually thought I was running faster. I have to work on this. My run times have been getting slower. I always go 9's but 10's...this is ridiculous!!
What would you do differently?:

Run more!!
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around..talked to friends I haven't seen in awhile. Ate some great post-race food and headed back to my car.

Event comments:

Another great race in Portage. They seem to be very well organized and will definitely do this one again. So close to home anyway!! Great meeting some new BTers and had a blast.

Very nicely done.  The run will come along.  You should be very satisfied with the other great improvements you have made.  Congrats.

Tri top status? Inquiring minds want to know......

I noticed the "wetsuit came off easy", but no mention of the tri top, so I guess all was in order yesterday...

Oh, BTW, nice race - solid bike and swim. I know you are disappointed in the run, but consider the training/racing load for you this summer...heavy duty, not doubt, so I wouldn't be too disappointed. Redemption in about 6 weeks.

Nice job on the race Amy!! I'm writing the RD and having him assess a 2:00 Abandonment penalty!

Sweet swim, way to go girl!!! Don't worry about the run, it was probably Craigs fault!

Great job. Oh well on losing the bottle - but the perp might've been what you needed for the run. Sometimes it's one of those days too.
