Overall Rank = 76/928
Age Group = m35-39
Age Group Rank = 22/113
Pre-race routine:

Drove down to PTC, Checked in, Set up T, talked to a bunch of people. Drank 1 boost and some water.
Event warmup:

Tested the legs, they were sore. Didn't get in the water, but did get the heart rate up a bit before the swim start.
Swim
  • 10m 12s
  • 586 yards
  • 01m 44s / 100 yards
Comments:

ok swim. Was pretty close to accurate with the 586 yards. That is what 1/3 of a mile works to. My swim took a holiday this year, so, pretty much what I expected. Lots of weeds.. long stringy grassy type. Got in your face, your goggles, wrapped around your shoulders etc. My navigation was a little off. Found myself to the outside a couple of times. Definitely not in the high traffic zones which was where I should have been
What would you do differently?:

Swim more. I probably say swim more in this part of the race report, in every race report. Really, it's the only answer.
Transition 1
  • 01m 6s
Comments:

T1.. good position for swim exit, a little far for bike out and in. Good for run out.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. This was fine.
Bike
  • 37m 17s
  • 13.2 miles
  • 21.24 mile/hr
Comments:

Going into this race, my leg muscles were extremely sore. I expected to take a hit on the run, but not on the bike like I did. Had little power to give. Still managed a decent split, but was not what it could have been. This hurt more than expected.
What would you do differently?:

Stay away from squats and lunges 3 days before a race.
Transition 2
  • 01m
Comments:

Went no socks, but after I almost put a sock on.. said forget it and moved on. Good decision.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Run
  • 22m 9s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 07m 07s  min/mile
Comments:

Again, legs were too trashed to do what I wanted to do. Had no push off which decreased my stride, so I compensated by increasing turnover. Love this running course. I was passed once. Not happy with Age Group place, but I understand why I ended up there.. so not unhappy with my performance.. just the reasons behind it.
What would you do differently?:

Same as bike..
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around. Talked. Had fun.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Have been seeing a Doctor for a Hip Injury. He trashed my legs during 4 sets of one legged squats and lunges. Hip was not a limiter, but the leg muscles were absolutely a factor.

(Pretty sure I have never logged anything here other than 'Nothing' before. I could check, but not going to.) Heh. :)

Event comments:

Excellent race. One of the best sprints in Georgia.

Great Race.  It sounds like you had a good time.  Last year I swam wide and found myself entangled in the weeds.  I remember thinking there was more weeds then water in that lake.

Anyway, get healthy.  Chicago is calling.

Nice job, Ron, especially factoring in less than ideal physical condition going into the race.

Could there be anything less likely to coexist peacefully with a sprint triathlon than full-on marathon training? And yet, you had an awesome race..Just strong all the way around..You make it look easy..

Nice going.

Good job! Too bad Dr. Nik made you do all those lunges.   You never quit and you never make excuses, this is what makes you so strong. Looking down a 19 miler the next day says a lot. Nice work.

Instead of "nothing" in the last box, you should put "taper."  Lunges and squats aren't tapering but they will make you stronger in the long run.
