Hi all I have a question. Is it a bad idea to have just completed my first tri this past Sunday, and already do another one a week from Sunday? (so two weeks between races)I was thinking of working out this week then taking it easy the week before the next tri low intensity work outs and such.

I really want to redeem myself on the swim, and this one is 300M shorter.

Edit: They are both sprint distances.

What is your fitness level?  How far are the races?

Honestly it depends.  I would do it but I have been training for a few years.  My swim coach has done 4 races in 5 weeks I believe.

Yes it is probably doable.  Don't expect to get much training done in between.

Good luck and have fun.

With two sprints it should be no problem at all.  Just get some rest and recovery work done this week.

I did a 70.3 then a sprint the following weekend with nothing but a 15 mile bike ride on Wednesday between them and was absolutely fine, in fact I rocked the sprint which was really cool.

The issue is how your legs feel going into the second race. If you don't have soreness you're good to go, your fitness isn't an issue at all (not training between races).

I say go for it; completely doable.

In my sprint last w/e I was racked next to a guy in my AG 40-44 who was in the midst of 15 races in 16 weeks, including sprints, Olys, at least one 70.3 (not sure if he mentioned an IM) and a marathon - pretty hard-core dude; did Kona last season.  He won the overal Du, crushing my time by over 20 minutes. His bike was worth more than the entire rack of bikes combined. I hate him.

Kick a$$ on the swim, BTW!

My first year too. I did a weekly tri series this summer of of 6 of 10 tris between mid june and mid august, with 4 in a row (1/4 mi swim, 5 mi MTB, 3.1 mi run) at one point.  I generally took the next day off or went for a recovery swim but viewed them as a hard day/key workout rather than a key race.

I've done tris on consecutive days, got 2nd AG on Saturday and 1st AG Sunday. No problem there.

I'm in the middle of a schedule now where I'm doing five sprints in seven weeks, Races scheduled Aug. 3rd, 16th (two weeks), 24th (one week), September 7th (two weeks), and 21st (two weeks) . No problems there.

By the end of September 7th, I will have done 3 tri's in 4 weeks.   1 sprint (done), 1 Oly (done) and one tweener (still to do).

It is possible.

Now, I wouldn't recommend doing IM's on consecutive weeks, but I'm certain it too could be done.

AS others have said it depends on your fitness base. I wager you'll be just fine. I've done 10 triathlons so far this year including two 1/2 Ironmans. The others were sprint or Olympic. When you get the racing miles in your legs you just plain get faster.
