Subject: Jingle All The Way, Part Deux

Ok, I'm starting to get questions about the Jingle All The Way 10K already. So I'll start a thread.

The race this year is on December 14th, 8 AM. I've added it to the race database.

I'm thinking this year we do a couple things differently with the teams:

  • Better names than Red Team and Green team. What lame-a$$ thought those up, anyway?
  • Instead of adding up the times, everyone submits a prediction. The winning team is the team whose actual time is closest to the team's predicted time. In this way, if there happen to be any drama-related late cancellations, I don't have to move people around and keep the teams "fair."
  • I think the bet this year needs to involve some sort of embarrassing avatar changes, something like that.
  • Red Team sucks, btw.
Same post-race deal, brunch at Crystal City Restaurant Sports Pub. We had 18 people last year, and since my company sponsors the race, everyone at the company now thinks I am the effing Jingle Pied Piper or something. So please help me keep my reputation, if not my dignity, intact, and do the race.

Any funny, yet clean, and I realize to some of you that this is an oxymoron, team names are more than encouraged.

Already planning on it, since by mid-December, I will be bored. And I will be faster this year, folks!

Start working on it now. You've got about 12 weeks. Even if you have to walk parts of it, that's all right. Find a good training plan and REALLY stick with it.

I thought that was pretty obvious from my OP.

Sometimes my attempts at subtle self-deprecating humor are foiled when those among us bring out their sledgehammers.

No, I am in fact a lame-a$$.  I have consistenly demonstrated this over the past year, and I resent the implication that I am anything other than a lame-a$$.

yeah.  i wonder if i could use the same plan i used for the race that was supposed to be 2 weeks ago.  i guess since now i know i can cover the mileage (which was my worry before), i can do it again focusing on trying to run faster.  it was about 12 weeks long too.  hmmm...i'll have to do some thinking on this today.

Don't worry about running faster right now. Just keep running, so that you are able to run more of the distance, as compared to how much you would have to walk.

Another good thing is that this course is pretty much pancake flat.   You can definitely do it.

As the moderator, I would like to point out that this is not TAN.  Therefore, words like "troof," "lof," and phrases like "can I has me some...." are banned.

In that case, we'll put 3558 on a team of one and call it "Red Team."

"troof" is not TAN-specific. Lof, yes, troof, no.
