Seriously - - are bugs going to be an issue?  Do I need to spray myself with OFF or something?

Naw, you don't need bug spray.

I have seen some mosquitos out lately, but most of them have been in the evening time.  When I rode the course last weekend the only bug I remember was the big 'ole dragonfly that flew into my helmet--I expected there to be bug goo on it when I finished, but there wasn't. Oh, then there was the whole bee sting I got when on the run course in early Sept...but that was sort of a freak deal anyhow. I survived.

Great- now something else to worry about! Bee's and Wasp! LOL!
I'll have my epi-pen on the bike but don't normally carry it on the run portion. It would really suck to be that far on the course and then have to quit because of bee/wasp stings. Guess I can put my 2nd epi-pen in the special needs bag.

I would absolutely carry an EPI pen with you. There really aren't mosquitos, but there are LOTS of bees, unfortuately. I'm out at the park all the time, and dont' see them. BUT, last year during the race, there were tons of them. It's all of the sweet stuff we have: gatorade, coke at the aid stations. They were all over that stuff....

Nothing we can do about it, unfortunately.

Last year Steve (doughboy) got stung on the bike.  The bee got him inside his upper lip.  He does not ride with his mouth open anymore

As a spectator last year, I do remember the bees. Be prepared if you are allergic.

Wind!  Oh well.  I've trained in enough wind this year.  I won't matter and I can't control it.  Everyone has to race in it.  I-WILL-SLICE-THROUGH-THE-WIND.

There are only a couple of places on the new course that you will be bothered by the wind. The rest of the course is sheilded by the trees and rolling hills.  Unfortunately, the last two hills will be into the wind.  At least it will cool you off

Also, for those who are not familiar with Texas weather, the humidity has returned.  It's still cool in the mornings but be prepared for a hot afternoon with humidity.  You HAVE to hydrate early and often in this weather.  Don't let the cool morning air fool you.  Second point, it looks to be an ozone action day on Sunday, make sure to bring sunscreen and chapstick.  It's going to be dusty and windy.

Both points are for spectators AND racers.  Bring water, wear sunscreen.

Good to see the heat index isn't forecast for nearly as bad as it was last year.

With a good race, I'll be off the bike while the winds are still below 10mph and off the course completely while the temp is still in the low 80's. I'm also a little pleased that the morning low won't be that low after all. Getting out of the water in mid-60's temps and freezing your butt off for the first several miles of the bike isn't all that enjoyable.

Oh my gosh Mike, I can't even read that forecast!  Must be my lack of a meteorology degree!

All I know is it's windier today than it has been in a while and the mornings are humid.  The afternoons feel HOT to me, especially yesterday afternoon.  I volunteered at my kids running club at their school and the kids were dropping like flies because they were hot.  Salt pills might be helpful during the run.  The wind on the bike should make it feel cooler.
