I am definitely in for my first Tri ever this year!! Eeeks!

 Already registered for:

Around the Bay 30k run - Hamilton ("A" Race)

Toronto Women's Half Marathon - 21.1k, ("B" race"

Definitely in for but not registered:

Victoria's Duathlon

Guelph Lake - try a tri  (A race, I know it's just a try a tri but for me it's a big deal)

New York Marathon - have to get in first - on to the lottery!

 Mulling over:

Other tris: we'll see how the first goes - i'll aim for sprint after that

Midsummer night's run - 30k - i've done this the last three years so if i do it again i get a 120k pin

Ride for Heart - fun bike

Any of the 5 Peaks trail running series

Flying Pig Marathon (probably should focus on swimming instead)

Toronto or Niagara Marathon in the fall - we'll see how many tris I do or if we get into New York

I could be convinced to do plenty more but there's only so much time, energy and $ for training.

Best of luck to everyone!

I am currently only registered for some runs, once the tri's are open I'll register for a couple. It's my 1st attempt at tri's so I thinking of the following 3:

Binbrook

Toronto Island

Wasaga Beach

But currently I am scheduled to do the following:

plus some more as my schedule allows. I usually post the plans in my blog.

Has the June Muskoka Long Ironman opened for registration yet?  If not, do you know when?

Looks like it isn't open yet but I'm not familiar with that race so don't know when they usually open registration.   The website is here: http://www.trisportcanada.com/muskoka.php

I'm committing to Guelph Lake's sprint in June.  It's my first time and I'm really looking forward to crossing the finish line Laughing

Races for this year are:

Feb - Peterborough 1/2 Marathon (racing)
March - Chilly 1/2 Marathon (pacing friends)
March - Around The Bay 30k (Racing)
April - Unsure - anyone know any good races in the GTA in April
May - Brooklin 10 miler (possibly)
May - Mississauga Marathon (Racing)
June - Guelph Lake 1 Sprint Tri (Running with friends)
July - HBC Canada Day 10k (Running with friends)
July - Peterborough half Ironman (Tune up race for Muskoka)
August - Midsummer night's run 30k (Racing)
September - Muskoka 70.3 (Goal race for the year)
September - Storm the Ten (May be looking for a sub since it's the weekend after Muskoka)
October - Niagara Falls International Marathon (Racing)
November - Hamilton Marathon (pacing friends - depending on the legs holding up...)

So far. I'll probably throw a couple more sprints in there as well, and a friend has convinced me to volunteer for IMLP so we can register for 2010 so I'll have to check for scheduling conflicts.... It seems like a lot when I write it out like that, but last year I ran 6 1/2 marathons, 3 marathons, 3 10 milers, 4 10k's and a bunch of 5k's plus 4 tri's so it's actually a lighter race schedule than last year..

Kieran - 2009-01-28 12:02 PM April - Unsure - anyone know any good races in the GTA in April

If you would like to do a "longish" race a month after ATB, may I suggest the Angus Glen 10 miler on Sunday, April 5th.  This race is capped at 350 participants and the way things are going, it should sell out soon.  Here's the link:

Cheers!

I looked at that one, but the $100 registration seems a little steep for a 10 miler. I've done the half there a couple of times and it's cheaper so I'm not sure what the deal is....

Sadly fitness will not allow me to do the ATB this year..but..being as it is my home turf I always ride the course in support. If someone wants to plan a meeting place before hand I can bring my camera and do a BT group shot. Also..if you're planning on doing ANY of the HSBC series you'll likely see me there (I do them all). Be nice to get to meet some of you in person.

Hey All

I am super new and looking forward to giving the Tri-thing a go,,, I am interested in sprints to get my feet wet but am thinking of a 1/2 IM by summers end. Barrys Bay, and Deep River are two that were suggested to me but I am open to Ideas I live in Pembroke Ont and am not too sure what to do at this point I would like to keep the travel to a minimum,  but am open to suggestions.

Thanks Pete

I think I am going to try to do the 'Heart of Gold' sprint in Timmins again this summer, on the 1st of Aug, but last year I signed up and bailed out

Most of the roads are clear of snow so the first bike ride is today!
