It might be the only triathlon record I'll ever set - but could I hold the record for longest standing member of BT to FINALLY complete a triathlon?

That's 1,574 days if you're counting, or just over 4 years.

WOOOOO HOOOOOO!!

Yay for me!!!

In all seriousness, I think it's proof for anyone suffering from training-induced injuries, no place to swim, moving states (multiple times), tough family schedules, tight budgets, and stolen bikes, that a tri is still possible as long as you continue to keep it a goal.

And for the record - it was a great race (although it looks like my times weren't captured).

I will NOT be setting the record for longest time between 1st and 2nd races.

Haha. Congrats on finally doing a tri. Just don't wait 4 years to do the next one, okay?

Uh, yes you did!

I thought I was bad in training for over a year before my first tri due to injuries etc, but four years puts that to shame.

x2 other comments, try to sign up now and commit to a few in 09'!

In those four years, did you refer to yourself as a "triathlete?"  Just curious.

Holy crap, I hope it was worth the wait.

You'd best start your IM plan so you can get it done before you're 100.

I think you win. However....

In 1985 I had my knee reconstructed and told my ortho that I wanted to do a tri. He smiled.  In 1993 I was signed up to do the Santa Barbara Oly tri but came down with a serious sinus infection that had me dowm for 3 weeks. Life moved on. In 2006 on a whim I showed up at a spring sprint tri and completed it. 3 months later I was scheduled to do my first Oly and 2 days before I seriously strained my piriformis muscle.  . . .  I did it anyway. Took 2 years to recover. There was no way I was going to let that one get away from me. It could be another 13 years until I had a chance to do another one. It wasn't.

A better question is...how did you last that long on BT and only amass a paltry 144 posts?  You're not fully committing yourself to the true BT experience.

Congrats on the tri!!!

I know, sad, huh?  I use the hell out of the log and route design functions though - doesn't that count for something?
