They describe our world so well in many cases....  what's your favorite? and why?

schroedinger, hands down, because it is explained by talking about a dead cat in a box, and to be honest, that makes me happy.

My fave has always been the calc for Kenetic Energy.

But I use Mannings equation a LOT....

Oh, so many to choose from.... Maxwell's equations in differential form are elegant, and the MHD equation of motion is near and dear to my heart (and the most relevant to what I do), but my very favorite are probably the Einstein field equations.

When in second semester physics we went from maxwell's equations to the wave equation for light.... it was a near religious experience...

phenomenal.

Coriolis effects always boggled my mind when I took physics.  But they were fun to contemplate:

Funny, as physics is just applied math. Maybe you're just a purist?

I created the "favorite" and "physics" don't belong together one...BUT, I will say, I'm VERY VERY GRATEFUL for those of you that like, employ, and use things like physics, math, and science cause not only does my brain dislike it very much and require lots of studying to get it, there is no enjoyment in it for me.  So please, keep trucking as it means I don't have to do it!  Give me a paper to research and write any day, philosophy to discuss, politics to debate (but not in this thread), or Soldier tasks to do, and I gotcha covered.  Drive on science friends, drive on!

Okay, that? (first image) Not funny.

Unless it's meant to call attention to the problem with sexism in math and science (which my beloved xkcd does nicely), in which case carry on.

Being more of a math type than a physics type I don't get to put much into actual practice and so "favorite" is sort of relative.

Now if you drop the "Physics" from the question, then I have a better answer:

Crytography is something that I work with quite often in my profession and aside from the obvious RSA Equation and Diffie-Hellman Key Exchange, my interest is really in Eliptic Curve Cryptography.

Prime Factorization methods also held my interest for quite a while and still do in terms of developing more efficient algorithms for performing Quadratic and Number Field Sieve Factorizations of very large numbers.

ETA: I do take an interest in Physics Equations if the derivation methods are unique or clever.
