Not a tri but real bike stage race...Porky's Gulch.

It is an TT up mount Washington, a crit in a closed amusement park Storyland, and a cyclocross race.

I had planned on doing it but decided not to and my husband is disappointed as he thinks the race name is funny and says it all the time.

Thats sounds awesome!

My first tri- a short sprint (super sprint?) backwards tri consisting of a 5k, 9-mile bike, and 100m pool swim- was called the Tinman.

Ok, the Time Trial up Mount Washington must be timed with a calendar.  What is a crit?  Is Storyland Really closed, or is it just post season?

I think that a ride across the Kangamangus Highway, followed with Bear Wrestling at Clarks trading post would make a nice duathlon.

Crit is a race you do loops on a course in a peleton...yep Storyland is closed for the season and only racers or officials get to go into the park for the race no spectators.

Need a good name for that Du

Phew, I have too many childhood memories from Storyland, not to mention memories of bringing my kids to the park.  4 generations of my family have had some fun in that little park.  Decent food at CHEAP prices, too!

Not a tri, but I've run in the "Keep Your Colon Rollin' 5K" two years now.  It is run by a local hospice and promotes colon cancer screening awareness.  One year, the race shirt was dark brown.

MKC - 2008-10-23 11:40 AM Isn't there a MulletMan??

There is - it was my first tri ever.  It is held at the Florabama Lounge, which straddles the border of Florida and Alabama.  Though the name Mulletman conjures an image of a poorly designed haircut - ala "joe Dirt", that is not what the name is about.

The Mullet is a fish, sometimes called "Cajun Bacon" and the Florabama, which is a drinking establishment, has several contests based about them, including a Mullet Toss and The MulletMan.  Tis a blast.

Check it our here.

Thank you so much for the link. Sounds like a fun time. I would do it and rock a Joe Dirt wig!

one of my favorite triathlons, held in souther New Mexico:

Bottomless triathlon

held at Bottomless lakes NM.  Beautiful clear water - a sprint.

Also just south of there in Dexter:

The Milkman Triathlon.

Sponsored by local dary farmers - free milk and ice cream and entertainment for everyone after the race - lots of kid activities.  Very fun race.
