It was awesome! Is that White Lake Half that your at there? Looks familliar It is White Lake Half...we love that race! Where you there this past year? We raced weekend #2! It was hot! Yep I sure was, I was at #1 though and yes it was hot! Really fun race, I had a great time! |

Thank you for takin the time to explain how close some of the hotels are! I believe the Mission Palms and Courtyard Marriott are the two closest hotels to the transition / finish area. Somewhere around a 1/2 mile walk to the park from the Mission Palms from a Google earth view. We ended moving our reservations from the Springhill Suites to the Mission Palms so it'd be easier for the family to get back and forth throughout the day. Costs are almost double, but hopefully worth it for the convenience. That said, there seemed to be plenty of close-by parking if you're farther out and want to save some $$$. Also depending on how many people and how long you have staying there are lots of home's/condo type rentals available. Check a site such as Expedia and you can get a push-pin view of all the hotels available around the Tempe area. |

Plan on a ride on Wednesday, short swim and about 6 mile run Thursday if anyone wants company... not a crazy pace, just to stay loose... I'm staying at the Quality Inn Airport... I am getting speed data and cadence data on the bike but no longer getting distance. When I switch to running I get no pace or distance data. I cannot reset the watch either...when I go to running it just keeps the time up there from the last run...regardless of if I reset it. Emailed Garmin with no joy...just the laziest answers possible. So, what would you do last minute? A) buy a new one and hope I can return the old one (owned about 60 days now) B) race with just HR and time data on the polar (not a debate about HR, I would like to monitor it throughout the race) |

Check the exchange policy. REI is lifetime and Costco I believe is 90 days. My HRM on my Garmin 405 has been acting weird- the first ~1/2 hour on the bike it reading way over 200 bpm. I replaced the battery on the chest strap and it's still not working right. I might have to exchange it. |

The bike course is three loops, so you will have a good idea as to where you are mileage wise at any given time and the run course will have mile markers if you need to pace them at all. |

Being a Financial Advisor, I got Janus VIP passes for my wife and mother from our Janus Fund wholesaler. He hooked us up 2 years ago in Kona as well. We get VIP Parking right next to Transition, Jamie and Mom can take a boat out to watch the swim start, they can be wetsuit strippers, they can hand out finisher medals, they get a special viewing area for the finish and access to the Janus hospitiality tent all day for food and drinks! |

I am not sure if I am going to use it yet. I used it for Augusta 70.3 this year and it was helpful on the run. However, for this IM my goal is to finish so maybe I don't want to know how fast/slow I am running??? Sometimes not knowing is best! See you all soon! |
