Pre-race routine:

Up at 0620, breakfast and coffee. Packet pick ended at 0900, race at 0930, so I left home around 0700. Got there, found a parking spot despite all the UT tailgaters already setting up. Walked to packet pick up and was glad I was doing the timed race cause the untimed line was LONG LONG LONG. They were out of safety pins though, and I didn't bring my race belt. So, I used the drawstrings in my shorts.
Event warmup:

I jogged to packet pick up, and back to the car, and then back to the race site for a good 1.5 mile warm up.

Comments:

The overall results are much better than I thought it would be today. I won't lie, I was hurting. First two miles felt good, but I was not mentally into the run today and literally felt like my quads and butt were lead. It was quite humid and warmer than I expected it to be. I should've just worn a tank top...my HR went up higher than it did for the 5K last weekend. I was hoping for 35 mins, so I wasn't far off, but I just felt like I had to work way to hard for it. I definitely tried to take advantage of the downhills cause the uphills definitely slowed me down. I never took any water cause I didn't really need any. I am glad I ended up doing decently, but didn't feel it today. It is a good thing to do Thanksgiving morning though.
What would you do differently?:

Not drink as much coffee as I did pre-race. It sort of set in my stomach heavy. No GI issues, just felt "heavy." Mentally be in the game. Mind wasn't in it today. I could do this faster. Maybe wear my Newtons, but with a tiny nagging ankle issue I wanted the stability of my Mizunos.
Post race
Warm down:

Just walked around, grabbed some water, walked back to the car to make my way back to Killeen.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Mentally not in it; breakfest lingering in the belly; wrong apparel.

Event comments:

I don't think I'd do this again unless I run it with friends. Over 12000 runners, and lots of families, made it a busy course. Just less than 3000 actually did it timed. Great family even, great local event, something to do today I guess.
