Zilla - 2008-12-03 1:33 PM The third roll on my stomach wonders if anyone wants to start this challenge now?  Anyone?

My third roll says no but my fourth says yes.

I'd like to join in to. I have about ten more pounds i'd like to drop and I Reallly, Really need to work on dropping body fat % and becoming more lean. I'm ready to start whenever. I like the idea of a support group where we have to use the nutrition logs and weigh in. I know my biggest problem is not logging the food that i'm consuming. Knowing that you guys would be checking in on me would perhaps make me a bit more accountable.

Now Javamom is the mentor/leader for this thread, so I do not want to step on toes - however I suggest the following:

Post current weight and goal weight (or Body fat % if know/and is goal) and previous week weight each Monday starting Monday December 8th.

December 8th marks beginning of "challenge"

A percent of goal with any progress at all should be acknowledged each Tuesday by the plan administrator (If Lisa bails, I may try to fill in, but as a random guy I have no where near the ability that the ladies have for organization).

During the week recipes that work, workouts different from the Big Three (SBR) should be shared by all participants or cheering squad members.

Post nutrition questions and I bet PJ/SportyJ?many others will have great answers to them!

Anything else?  For the record, I will post my morning weight on Monday with my goal weight in the following fashion (numbers estimated )

perkins_jerryw  cur: 245   goal: 205    prev: initial

That sounds really good.  Not sure about the math part.  I will see if I can put a spreadsheet together for us.

What a GREAT IDEA!

I am going to play along with logging nutrition. My goal is to put on MUSCLE so I am not going to play the numbers game scale wise but I'll play body fat!

I love talking food and proper nutrition so lets post awesome recipes and proper nutrition for athletes.

REMEMBER most of us are probably not eating enough (when ACTIVE) - seriously! When trying to lose weight not eating enough calories is as detrimental as eating too much so be sure to find that nice balance. Let's start logging and holding eachother accountable.

I'll look up my numbers and post them soon for tracking.

Good luck everyone, especially through the holidays! WOW!

How do you get a spreadsheet in threads?  I tried a couple of different ways and it didn't work.

Well, you're not going to be able to insert an actual spreadsheet into the thread.  Aside from writing a bunch of HTML to make tables; I think the easiest way is to take a screenshot of your spreadsheet and put that into your post to show what you've got.

. . . I am going to take up wrestling as an alternative exercise.

This just sounds fun to me - or am I reading this wrong?

I will participate in the accountability/public shaming.  I weighed in last week, but I will post my numbers tomorrow morning as the baseline.

The scale tells me this morning I am 163.8. I have a range i'd like to hit 150-155. So about 10lbs. I'm more concerned with the body fat than the numbers on the scale. Are there any good ways to get an estimate of your body fat without expensive testing? I've never done it before.

I've heard that professional testing is the best way to get an ACCURATE reading.  However, home-use body fat scales will at least provide consistent readings.  So if you know your starting point using one of these scales, you can at least tell whether your BF% is going up or down and by how much.  It's not perfect, but convenient and inexpensive.

I have calipers, if you have someone who can help you this would be more accurate than a scale which takes a lot of fluid into account.
