Subject: spinning at spokes

I"m thinking of starting sessions at Spokes come January...not sure of time, I have to call and see what they have available.  May just be me, but I'd love some buddies.  Honestly I had the BEST time biking with you guys on the computrainers there, it is SOO much better than my trainer and spin class!

Let me know if you're interested!  I'm going to aim for weekends, but am open to a weeknight if need be!

Yes!!!! I was hoping people wanted to do that again this winter. Trainers get boring on my own and I have a much better time trying to "keep up" with everyone, esp. since I can't actually ride with all of you outside.

dude, I'm aiming for every weekend, even if its "warm" enough, an hour outside and a hard spin indoors might be just the ticket.  I've got an early Oly to train for!

Ew. Crickets disgust me. I seriously hate them.

Computrainers are more fun, and no crickets

I don't know if I could do every weekend, but I think it would be fun to try this out.  I do ride the trainer by myself, but I don't really know how to push myself on it.

It is so much fun. I just heard back from them, I suggested the following times on Saturdays:

8:00 or 9:00 am

3:00, 4:00, 5:00, 6:00 pm

That would give us the "warmest" daylight hours to play....such as me going riding. Lets see what we can get.

I did say that I think there would be at least 4 of us each week, as shelly did, we'll have to do a first come, first served type thing if it gets popular.  They have 8 computrainers to use, I just want to avoid reserving bikes for people backing out.

Let me know what you guys end up doing and I'll definitely be in when I can make it - can't afford to go every weekend, but definitely as much as possible.

Also, if we needed to fill bikes, I've got a couple of tri friends from church (not TH, of course) who would probably be interested in coming once in awhile, as a reserve.

Ok, here's the deal.  $20 per person, we're looking at Saturdays at 3:00 for 2 hours I believe.  Here are the dates I asked for in advance.

1/3/09
1/10/09
1/17/09
1/24/09
1/31/09

Please copy and add your name next to the date if you're interested. I know its a month away, but I'd rather people commit and block the time out.

Also, I'm going to require that if you commit to a day, and you can't make it, if its less than a week notice, you've got to find a replacement.  If not, and you flake, I'm not going to hold a bike for you, you'll have to call on your own.  I just can't expect them to give up $20 for someone that decides they don't feel like it last minute.  Thats unfair to them and to others that may want to. Now if you don't feel like it, and cough up the $20, no problem.

ps good idea on others as well....and we can always have a ''wait list"  kind of like they do at our spinning classes.  My feeling is look at it as an 8 week program.  totally worth it.  I probably won't do every week either, maybe 8 weeks out of 10, but its some guaranteed biking!

I've never done the computer trainers before. I love stats. I'll join you guys if I have time and if I don't have to spend too much money. I spend enough on this sport already.

I spin at the gym but never at Spokes.  Is there anything I need to bring besides my shoes and waterbottle? ;-

You need your actual bike. They have computrainers, but you need to bring your own bike. It's not like spin class at a gym. We hook up our bikes and pick the course we want to "ride". The trainers adjust themselves according to the elevations.
