1. Finish Zane Grey without being mercilessly beaten by either the course, my stomach or Paulette (she can beat me to the finish just can't beat me with a large stick or rock)

2. Rim2Rim2Rim....no goal time just finish uninjured and smiling.

3. Finish Imogene under 3:30

4.  BQ at Chicago...this is a stretch for me, but aim high huh.  I don't think I would go to Boston even if I bq'd.

5.  2000 miles running, hiking and walking.

6.  Gain enough confidence, base and experience to sign up for Leadville 2010

I don't like to write but I am really enjoying this thread so,

1. I am trying to hit a BQ mary time in January, if it doesn't happen I might try again in February but I too have no asperations of actualy going to Boston just the braggin rights of BQ on my BT blog.

2. I want to find a century bike ride to do even if I have to settle for a metric due to calendar scheduling issues.

3. I plan on racing at least 2 olympic tris this year so Chris will stop taking away my man card for only doing the sprint distances.

4. Specific races I plan on hitting are on my blog but I am still looking to add.

Holy crap I didn't even bike that much this last year. You are going to put some miles on those legs. Looks like you have some awesome things planned.

If sprints are what you are good at (and you OBVIOUSLY are) then there is no shame in racing that distance. I FEAR RACING a sprint because honestly, its harder to go balls to the wall for an hour than to slog around for 3. Just finishing a long distance does not make you a man. Hence the reason I avoid 5K's and would MUCH rather do a half marathon.

^^^ Good point.

Maybe I should take of my goal of doing the Flapjack TT's because they are only 20k. Nope, speed is where you get man cards, not get them taken away.

His manliness (Bolt's) isn't being challenged because of the distance - only because we don't know whether he can bike or swim.

Please note the use of the sarcasm font above!

Bolt's an arrogant d*ck.  A fast arrogant d*ck, but still a d*ck IMHO.

How do you REALLY feel Tanya?

Hey! How did I get into this?  Doing Sprints is tough! I just take away your man card because it's YOU.    You could do 5 Ironman races and I'd still take it. So, your whining has caused me to confiscate it yet again.

Man cards are over rated....

Can I race for gendered equality (or at least some semblance of it) at IMAZ...it's called IronMAN...and I was reading some stupid tri magazine that celebrates women's participation in Kona by saying something like 73 % of the field was female and 27% of the field was male. CELEBRATING women's involvement. That BS. What did they think women have been f^cking sitting and knitting for the last 100 years...stupidness. I think I may have to boycott Ironman on principle after IMAZ (I can't get out of it now). We could protest the race....???

Step 1:Wear a blue swim cap at the start of IMAZ.
Step 2:???
Step 3:Profit

They only let 27% of the field be men?!?!  I think we all need to race for men's equality!  What with all the "Irongirl" and other races in which men aren't even ALLOWED to participate in, there's some pretty big discrimination going on.

You're right though. With that many women racing, it's obvious they're not sitting around knitting. It's more like the men are sitting around on the couch watching sports...or wanting to race, but not allowed to because its' women only

Ok, I see this post is going off topic, but I have to give my .02.  I HATE it when women that complete an Ironman are called Ironbabes.  That is so freakin sexist.

ok, I feel better now.

I would rather be an IronBabe than an IronMan.  Although I still like the idea of my M-Dot tattoo being an M-Dot with the M upside down to make a W.

Good topic.

My primary goal is to continue to enjoy my training and make it to the races injury free.  Also, to have fun racing and training with Kim and my new BT friends.

2009 Races:
Disney World Marathon - Running with Kim and loved it last year and can't wait for 36 days!
Oceanside 70.3 - Havn't done a half so just have a positive experience.
Vineman 70.3 - Because I love wine and Kim will do this one with me.
IMAZ!

As crazy as this sounds Chris might actually be right on this one.

I really think that the Olympic is the distance I should be racing and it is only my lack of swimming ability that has been keeping me at the sprint distance so far.  So add to my goals for 2009 learn to swim.  It's been on my blog as a goal for most of 2008 as well.

Interesting topic!

Mine:

1) Less than 5 hours at the Disney Marathon
2) Less than 2 hours at my next half marathon (I'm actually going to try to accomplish this on Sunday)
3) Avoid injuries
4) Be more attentive to injuries (should they occur) rather than "running through the pain" and making them worse
5) Improve my HIM time at the Vineman 70.3
6) Complete a century ride
7) Register for IMAZ 2010!!

Personal goal:

1) Pay off as many of these f'ing bills as possible so I can quit my second job by January 2010 and go back to having a life
