Glad you (and, secondarily, the bike) were relatively uninjured!  Heal up soon.

More well wishes! Hope everything heals up real quick.

Crazy stuff these animals. A few years ago I volunteered at a distance charity ride and one woman went over her handle bars when a squirrel ran into her wheel, got caught in the spokes and was subsequently smashed into the fork. I would not have believed it except that she got cell phone pics. She was ok overall but didn't ride the second day. Needless to say the squirrel was NOT ok.

Craig, glad it sounds like just some flesh wounds that will heal up!! Heal up well, stretch lots, and monitor all weird aches--you never know what may be a little bit more than you think--but I ABSOLUTELY wish you the fastest healing!!

Take it easy... heal up and get back out there.

Glad to hear you weren't hurt worse.

Be sure to check with the Doc about swimming with the stitches & infection risks...

Sorry to hear about your crash, I'm also doing IMCDA.  I crashed about two weeks ago, totaled my bike and seperated my shoulder.  Heal up, a little time off will not hurt your training that much.

Thanks for the warning.  I almost hit a squirrel the other day.  Haha.  Feel better.  Smile

I almost hit a squirrel on my ride last saturday too. I was going downhill probably 25 - 30 mph at the time.

Get well soon!

Sorry to hear about your doggie incident...that sounds like no fun. Glad you are ok, and the bike too.  Unfortunately, I think you might get a wee bit squemish when you see the ambulance bill!! Not trying to be miss negative, but the prices are OUTRAGEOUS!!!

OUCH!!! Glad to see you are ok! Where I am riding tomorrow, there is an overpopulation of deer, and my sisters boyfriend had one dart out in front of his bike last year and also ended up in the ER like you did...so I'll be watching out for those tomorrow!! Good times!

Heal up, my friend.  That's going to smart for a bit.  Glad to hear you cushioned the bike with your body.

When I went down b/c of a dog last year, it did the same thing -- backed up and just kept barking.  It seemed confused -- "Hey, what's he doing?  Just lying there?  Where's the chase?  Where's the challenge? Bark, bark, bark!"

Where were you riding?

Yup, it is the sneaky ones that get you. I had a dog sneak up out of the ditch a couple weeks ago. Sorry about the fall!

Heal up quickly.

I ride in a rural area sometimes very very early and about 4-5 months ago a pit bull came out of nowhere and he wasnt just barking but snapping at my legs. No doubt if he had gotten me down I was in trouble.

As someone elese said silly irresposible dog owners especailly since so many in the area walk/ride that road.

Did you drop off a bill at the dogs house?

boy we are going to have to start an IMCDA support group for all of us bike injured!!  again, thank goodness it wasn't worse and that there's no broken bones or head injuries.  Hang in there, I feel the road rash pain with you. I'm on my way to go get some tegaderm right now. Get better soon and we can commiserate about trying to heal with 9 weeks til ironman!
