Are you doing that this week Dean? Robin and I are riding this Saturday in Chandler somewhere.  I can't get that map to load to see if we can meet up with you on that.

Sweet route. I am out of town this saturday but next saturday I could swing a nice route like this. Looks to be a long haul for sure though.

Sorry about not being clear but yes I'm planning riding it this Saturday 5/2.  I did this loop two weeks ago and had fun.  FYI, I'll be rolling out about 5:30am.

I like your loop but not your start time so much.

What time do you expect to be at riggs and 347 (maricopa rd)?

I may be up for meeting up and riding.

I'd be waiting at Riggs & Alma School.

Depends on what my other riding partners are up for too.

Cool.  Maybe if Josh can meet up too along the route we can actually turn this into a group ride.  No worries if it does not work out.

Thanks to Dean for dragging me around.

We ended up going a little longer, but a great workout (for me at least. )

Detours are always fun so thanks for the suggestion.  Nice ride, weather and company.

Robin Bobo, Javamom, and I are trying to figure out a long ride/run brick for Saturday. The LTF Run Club is going to do a long out-and-back along the canal starting at Granada Park at 6 a.m. My plan was to join them for a 9 mile run, then do 2.5 hours on the bike.  However, this would be a reverse brick, since it would be better to bike first, then run per normal triathlon sequence. I don't HAVE to run with my LTF Run Club peeps, especially if I have BT peeps to train with, but I do like the early start and the Granada park area, and Robin says we can bike the canal for 11 miles one way.

Any thoughts? Anyone know the central Phoenix area (Kerri - Mel?) and want to participate?

Count me in  I ride along that canal all the time and I wanted to get a longish run in on Sat as well. Not 9 miles long but we'll see.

I don't have time to do a brick, but I would come out and run the canal while you guys bike.

Dean just called me and reminded me that he wanted to leave early-ish to go to Prescott on Saturday for Mother's Day weekend.  So I would be happy to cut down the run and ride. Maybe an hour run with a 90-minute ride? Ride first then run?

Either way, I'll have to make up the rest of the training time in Prescott (yay, hills!).

Ready to run or roll at 6 a.m. sound OK?

What bike course are you thinking of for the ride portion?  Now that it's warmed up, I'd be in for a early brick.

I'll be doing a Saturday morning ride down in South Chandler as well. I'll be leaving
around 0600 and doing a little less than 60 miles probably. I'm flexible on the time
to a degree. I want to go when it's cool.

As is usually the case, I'd welcome company, but I have to go regardless.

I think we are planning on riding down the canal. The path goes under all the major roads you only have to cross the street on two. I believe it goes all the way out to 67th ave before the paved way stops. So it would be about 12 miles out and then 12 miles back.

Mel, do you have to worry about people walking their dogs/jogging/tooling along slowly on bikes when you're on the canal? Or can you just go?   Sounds like a great deal to be off the street if you don't have to dodge people.
