Subject: After 8 or 9 years of this sport, I finally placed in my age group!!!!!Wow, I didn't think this day would come until I was in the 60-65 age group, honestly. I've always had endurance, but never the speed necessary to capture one of the top spots, even in a small local race. Well today was maybe my 20th triathlon (not sure - maybe I've done more than that ) and I took 3rd in the 30-34 age group!!!!!!!!! I'm so pumped!! David Tri's was there to support me and take pics and carry my sandals back to the car and all that, even after he did a monumental 112 mi ride yesterday. (Thanks honey! ) We saw lots of BTers. Had a great race and filed my race report, although official results and times are not in. http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=166618Only problem was my Garmin. This was my first race with it, and I practiced taking it off the bike and putting it on my arm, but somewhere in there the power must have turned off because after a half mile or so, I looked down at a blank screen. Oh well. Everything else went picture perfect! So I just wanted to share to encourage all of you out there who go out to set personal bests and complete events, and maybe you think you will never see the podium, but I finally did and I'm so happy! |
