Subject: P2c or ZIPP 404's
I have a Giant TCR with all red components. I have started rnuning tris and road this bike in my first tri last week. I would like something to increase my speed on the bike split  as biking is my strongest section so any advantage could hopfully be multiplied to help compensate for my horriable swiming lol. Would a P2C or Zipp wheels help for for now? i'm in florida so it's mostly flat. I would assume that the bike will help more but i was not sure. I could aford both togeather if i sold my road bike but idk about doing that and still riding in a group every week.

P2, provided you can get a good fit on one.

The biggest aerodynamic gains are to be made from your position on the bike, and the tri bike will help you maximize those gains over your road bike position.

Aerodynamic gains from the wheelset wil be minuscle by comparison.

Spend the money on swim lessons and some good pool time ......... Instead of trying to augment your strength, work on your weakness.

But if you don't feel like doing that, then see Bear's post above. ^^^

Edit: And it will not exponentially increase the benefit.  The faster you are, the less overall benefit aero goodies have (for time) even though they become more important since aero. drag increases exponentially with speed.

Work on Weaknesses, not Strengths.  MAN, I hate hearing it, but I know it's so true...

I saw a huge jump in my bike speed when I got my P2C.  But my run still sux.

I didn't see any significant speed gains when I upgraded from a cheap road bike to a P2C. I do feel more comfortable and more efficient on the bike, and during a 5-7 hour ride it's something I greatly appreciate. I'd focus on improving your weaknesses, as others have said, rather than attempt to buy speed. You're likely looking at shaving minutes off a total race time when you could significantly improved by being stronger in all three sports.

If you are determined to spend money on either the 404s or a new bike (believe it or not there are other brands not named Cervelo), think of it from an ROI perspective.

Ride the new bike 3-4x a week

Ride the 404s 6-7x a year (assuming you only race on them).  Race wheels tend to collect more dust than mileage.

What bike would you get a better ROI on over the P2C?  Yes the Cervelo name is big on the forums.  I have a P2C, actually 2, and a huge fan.  But I don't think you pay any premium for the name and they are great bikes.  So from a ROI standpoint I can't think of anything close to a P2C.  Now a P3C or P4 that might be a little different story.  But bang for the buck a P2C DA is a steal, IMHO

A P1 is probably even better bang for your buck.

I hear Orbea has a good match for the P2C and my LBS owner is a big Fuji guy so he's always pushing the Fujis. 

When I test-rode, I went on a Specialized Transition, Orbea Ora, QR Seduzo, Felt 32, and the P2C and I liked the P2C the most hands-down.

Considering how many P2C's I see at triathlons, I'm sure your right. I'm just one of those people who likes to Zig when everyone else Zags

My first tri bike was a Felt S22 and I just picked up a Cervelo P2C because I wanted to. I love the ride of both bikes, but for different reasons. But I won't get into that and will stay on topic.

Buy the bike. Know that upgrading (yes I said it) to a tri bike will help your speed, but it is the engine that needs the work. The Zipps will look cool, but if you ride a ton, the bike will produce the best results. Put in some mileage and you will see the returns.
