Pre-race routine:

Got there about 45 minutes before the race...registered & used the potties and didn't have much time otherwise. Found Jen (and Andy) on my wander towards the start line.

Comments:

Not a bad run - my first standalone 5K in 3 years, and a PR. (My first 1/2 of the Ukrop's 10K this year was faster, but that's another story.)

Race bunches up a bit at the beginning & isn't chip timed, so I put my time instead of the official time (maybe 10 seconds before I crossed start).
What would you do differently?:

I probably wouldn't do much differently. The 2nd mile was my worst, but it also had the water stop - I don't stop during Ukrop's because it's cool usually, but I stopped last night because it was hot. I would have liked to do better, but given my slacky training, who's going to complain about a PR.
Post race
Warm down:

Was greeted by the Monkeys, Sugar Daddy and the dog. Got some cool cloths, water, and food. Went back to the course to cheer for Jen & Andy.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Slovenly training. The extra 10 pounds I've picked up this summer. The heat.

Event comments:

Not bad for something I did on a whim...now I'm doing the series, so over the next 2 Monday nights I can try to beat my time.

Great job.
