Pre-race routine:

Woke up and ate a ClifBar and Propel while setting up transition. Talk to a few people and hopped on the bus to the football field.

My sighting was great for this swim. I made sure to be picking out the bouys several in front of the closest one so that I could swim the shortest line. Put me farther out into the river most of the time and was swimming along there. Likely the current was stronger there as well. I worked to keep the strokes long, smooth and relaxed. I've definietly improved my swimming a lot in the last year, but not the 4 mins I took off my time.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing - great swim.

Decent transition. Layout is much better than last year. Little problem clipping in at the mount line, but not bad.

This was a decent bike, definitely faster than last year. I focused on an even pace and keeping the cadence high. I kept pedaling in the down hills and passed a ton of people there. The wind picked up on the way back with the storms coming in. This would be a fun bike course to really hammer.
What would you do differently?:

I feel like I could have pushed this a bunch harder. My legs felt really fresh at the end, but I was ahead of pace and was okay with that.

Flying dismount and into transition. Fumbled with the visor and race belt a bit, but that was already after I had left transition.

And yet again, I tanked the run. I've been trying to isolate the reason, but I think it's just a combination of factors. I definitely need to change my Infinit formula because once again I had stomach problems that came up and assisted to get me out of the race mentally. Coming out of transition, I only had to run a 50min 10K to meet my goal. First mile felt great and I thought everything was under control and on pace, then I fell off the wagon. I walked each water station and the hill at mile 5.5. Splits were: 7:45, 7:57, 8:11, 8:14, 8:45, 9:30 Not a good trend.
What would you do differently?:

Increase training, more long bricks, more experimentation with nutrition.

Walked around a bit and cheered in fellow racers.

A great race by Team-Magic. Very well organized and cool venue in Chattanooga.

Nice race out there.  Don't worry.  You'll get the nutrition down and then there will be nothing to keep you from cruising on the run at AG Nationals!

Are you drinking water with your infinit? I tried to focus on that for this race and felt great the entire way. Either way, congrats. Awesome race.

Great race...seems like getting out a little into the river helped others get faster swim times.  Smokin bike leg.  On the run, there was a thread on board letting up some on the calories to allow the stomach to clear some before getting off the bike.  Hard when the bike time is limited on an OLY.  Maybe too many calories on the bike?  Good luck with it...and Nationals.

Fast time.  Nutrition is really tricky for an oly because the intensity makes it hard to digest much.  You must've climbed those hills on the bike like a man possessed!
