Subject: Ironman to couch

5 1/2 months I've ridden the bench on injurred reserve unable to bike or run.  And since I couldn't run or bike, I didn't want to swim either.  Yesterday I got the ok from my doctor to go back to training.  I left the doc's office and went straight to the gym.  OMG, I ran 3/4 of a mile and had to walk!  This time last year I was running 18 miles non-stop.  So I muddled thru and ran/walked 2 miles.

I guess the only point here is not to take your health for granted.  So from now on when people ask "why do you run?" or "why you you do triathlons?", my simple answer will be "Becasue I can".

Welcome back!  In spite of how hard that first run was, you may be suprised at how fast your fitness does come back.  Give it a month and I bet you will be feeling good.
