Subject: Garmin 305 uploading issue...

When I first bought the Garmin 305 a few months ago, I would come to the site, upload my workout and ALL data transferred within seconds.  Now when I go to upload a workout, the box with a message "Storing workout file and lap data to server" remains on my screen forever showing that it's still uploading.  So after I give it a few minutes I close the box, go to my training log, and only the totals are updated.  The HR and lap data don't appear.

Anybody know why this is happening?  I keep my Garmin clean of having a large history so it doesn't prolong the data transfer.

Did they do somthing with IE8? Seems like I downloaded an update, that may be making it funk up?

There were some changes moved live last night. We're assuming that was the cause.

Ditto using both FF 3.5 and IE 8 . . . and is entering everything but lap data.

While you're working on whatever the problem is . . . is it possible to enter the lap data manually?

Ron,

Thanks and I'll just do it the old fashioned way until you get it fixed. Now how do I do that again??
Have a good rest of your weekend

At this time, my issue with this problem is fixed.  I re-uploaded the weekend data from the Garmin and I can see the lap data.

I was having this problem too.  Working now for me ( even as a multisport workout ).

Definitely seems to be fixed.

Thanks Mike!

Glad to hear it's working, it should be all set. I've tested with some largish workouts with good results.

If you had any workouts that didn't upload correctly over the weekend, just upload them again and it should work fine.

Our apologies for the lack of ability to upload over the weekend. We've added two days to all current Performance Memberships in order to make up for the loss of functionality.

For you geeks:
This was a weird one. We changed the way the workout data is being stored over the weekend (to the OS filesystem rather than a BLOB in the database) and abstracted things a bit to lay the groundwork for other devices and future enhancements. As near as I can tell one of the files was corrupted when it was moved live. A diff between the two systems showed no differences. One AJAX call was returning what we expected plus some extra characters. No source for the extra characters could be found. I uploaded a fresh, although seemingly identical, copy of one file and it started working.  The code gremlins strike again...
