Hi,

Can anyone recommend a good brand/model goggle for OWS in the ocean?

Thank you.

I wear the Aqua Sphere Kaimen goggles (tinted lenses) and I really like them.

I had thought about getting the Aqua Sphere Seal or Visa (which are bigger) for my HIM, but I didn't get around to it before the race. I used the kaimens--tinted lenses and all for an overcast, choppy HIM ocean swim and they were fine.

They're very comfortable, they don't leak, and they've lasted almost 2 years.

I've recently purchased the Aqua Sphere Kayenne goggles and have used them in two OWS sprints.  Plus all of my training is OW.  I'd say I've had them for about 3 weeks.  Love them because they give the view in the watter of not wearing anything.

The one thing I've always hated about goggles is that they messed with my vision in the water.  That is why I always went with the Seals (again Aqua Sphere).  But, I have to say these are just as good visually, and are extremely low profile.

another vote for the Aquasphere Kaimen's, great goggles, very comfy, very good field of vision.

I wear TYR Nest Pros and LOVE them. I was a Kaiman wearer as well but found that they were leaking a lot and not as comfortable after awhile and find the Nest Pros to be a better fit. They still have a great field of vision but don't cover as much of the eye area, which IMO leads to a better seal and less leaking. I have the smoke gray for outdoor and racing and pale blue for indoor.

I just bought a pair of Aquashere Kaimen's and tried them in the lake last night. They fit my face great (will stay stuck on my face with no staps for a long time) but the problem I'm having is that they are too shallow in depth for me as I have fairly long eye lashes and they hit the inside fronts of the googles. Is this a big issue? I find it still ok to see under water but I don't see very well when sighting? Any suggestions? (Also here in Canada these googles are expensive $35.00! should I return them? My first tri is in four days though so...

I wear Speedo Vanquishers.  They've never leaked.

x2.  Have been using the same Vanquishers for a year and it's still holding up well.  My previous pair were over 1.5  years but I lost them after a race.
Good goggles for <$20.

You should try on the Aquasphere Kaiman before you dive in. They're a solid pair of goggles, but I've noticed that Aquasphere's "low-profile" means that the lenses are much closer to your eyes - in fact, they virtually hit your eyelashes (they will if you have long eyelashes). This also means they fog up much faster than other goggles. For me, this aspect outweighs the larger lens size.

The Speedo Vanquisher has a more bulbous frog-eyed appearance, with the lenses pushed away from your eyeballs. I prefer this, as it fogs a lot less for me. The Aquaspheres are easier to adjust, and felt like they fit better in the store, but for me, the Vanquishers performed better in terms of nonleakage and nonfogging (by a lot) in the water. (I own both, and now only use the Speedos.)

I'm wondering: is there any such thing as fogless swimming goggles?

Despite the antifog treatment, they will all fog if you use 'em straight up.

The spray-on stuff does prevent fogging, although it can slightly distort the view since it's like a detergent. (You'd get really annoyed with the view if you used these on your cycling glasses.)

At least for me, the Speedo Vanquisher fogs much less than the Aquasphere Kaiman, likely because of the proximity to the eye.

I wouldn't go with the Kaiman's as they leak after about 3 months or less of use...the suction cups loose their molding I guess and stop sticking to my face...and than become really uncomfortable...I switched to the TYR NEST PRO's and they are awesome...WAY more comfortable than the Kaiman's and they haven't leaked yet...same field of vision as the Kaiman's and way more variety and cooler colors as a bonus.

TYR NEST PRO = KAIMAN KILLER!!!!

I've had good luck with my TYR's.  They just seem to fit my face better than others.

I have a couple of blue pairs for the pool and a clear pair for racing (6:30AM starts and tinted goggles don't work well together).

I've been using Speedo Vanquisher 2.0s. The new version of them. After someone pick up my Vanquishers at a tri. They have a little more peripheral vision. Love them. Speedo also came out with there Air Seal Tri that are design for open water.

I had terrible luck trying to fit goggles. Now I use the Aquasphere Seal mask. I look like an idiot, but it doesn't leak and doesn't get knocked off easily.

I've been using the speedo vanquisher plus w/ anti fog... they began to fog after a few months, but have never leaked.  I bought some anti fog spray to try.  I just bought a pair of speedo aquasocket anti fog.  Used them in my one mile swim today and they were awesome, no leaking and could see beautifully!

I've had my Sable's for a while and they've never fogged.  I like that they come with 3 different sized nose pieces to they will fit most faces.  Expensive though...$50 canadian!!
