Sunny
Total Time = 1h 24m 49s
Overall Rank = 108/182
Age Group = F35-39
Age Group Rank = 14/20
Pre-race routine:

Woke up early, packed up car & drove over to pickup packet and set up transition. Helped out some newbies racked near me. Said hi to Chrissy. Met up with Judi while watching the fast people go.
Event warmup:

I didn't even hit the water until 90 minutes after the race started...so no point in that sort of thing.
Swim
  • 07m 59s
  • 300 meters
  • 02m 40s / 100 meters
Comments:

Not a bad swim, considering I hate swimming and avoid the pool at all costs. Last year 7:47, so a bit slower, but not so bad. Even though I hated waiting 90 minutes to start, I was well seeded. Passed one guy at the wall, was only passed once at end by some guy who was clearly mis-seeded and swam up and down the middle of the lanes passing everyone.
What would you do differently?:

Swim more. Lie more when I seed.
Transition 1
  • 02m 37s
Comments:

8/20 ag transition
84/182 overall

Last year 3:11, so much better T1 this year.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing - best rank of the whole race. :)
Bike
  • 43m 25s
  • 12.43 miles
  • 17.18 mile/hr
Comments:

Well, let's see. I lost at least 2 minutes after crossing the timing mat from T1 because my chain dropped twice. A course official helped me with it the first time, I got 10 feet away and it dropped again. Put it on myself and headed out on the course. So, this could have been a much better bike. My effort was good.

Last year 41:13 (no drop chain!)
What would you do differently?:

Not drop chain. :)
Transition 2
  • 01m 16s
Comments:

Last year 1:31

13/20 ag
113/182 overall
What would you do differently?:

This year, added knee strap...and still was speedy. Well done.
Run
  • 29m 34s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 09m 31s  min/mile
Comments:

Good run - I felt comfortable but was putting in effort for the whole thing. Used water to keep cool.

Last year, 29:22...so not so far off.
What would you do differently?:

Run a little faster.
Post race
Warm down:

Met Judi at finish where she was volunteering & showed her my greasy hands. :)
Got in line for Chipotle.
Met up with Sugar Daddy and the Monkeys.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Dropped chain.
Lack of training mojo.
A few extra pounds here and there.

Event comments:

Setup Events is a class act & I always enjoy their races. This is my 4-5 race on this course and it is good for newbies and others.

Great job, Kristen! I was sorry to hear about your chain issues. Sorry I wasn't able to catch up with you after the race either - I heard you say "Go Chrissy" as I left T1 on the bike - thanks!

Hooray! Nice work! You even had a decent swim time considering you avoid the pool like the plague. Sorry about the dropped chain, that's frustrating any time but doubly so in a race - you had an awesome pace even with dropping it twice! Congrats!
