Tri-ing for Children’s
70'sF / 0C
Overcast
Total Time = 1h 18m 29s
Overall Rank = 57/451
Age Group = F45-49
Age Group Rank = 2/34
Pre-race routine:

the usual, up with just enough time to dress and get out the door with my Pop Tarts and Diet Pepsi! Could not believe the traffic backup to get into the park!
Event warmup:

walking around...
Swim
  • 09m 50s
  • 440 yards
  • 02m 14s / 100 yards
Comments:

just another swim for a non swimmer. Actually felt pretty good, making sure I finished stroke, tired to swim "wide". Really concentrated and worked hard.
What would you do differently?:

train?
Transition 1
  • 01m 28s
Comments:

ok T1, lost a couple second by having to clear my computer!
What would you do differently?:

have bike computer cleared? swim better so I don't need the wetsuit?
Bike
  • 43m 17s
  • 15 miles
  • 20.79 mile/hr
Comments:

raced hard. had a back and forth with a girl who did not have her age on her calf. by the way she responded when I passed her, led me to believe she was in my age group. She was out of the saddle alot pushing, and had her heels way up. As we came into transition together, I asked her how old she was. Go figure "48". I said "oh crap" and she laughed and said thats what she said the first time I passed her! kinda of thought she was trashing her legs a bit more than I was...
What would you do differently?:

not a thing! Really worked hard.
Transition 2
  • 00m 46s
Comments:

made sure it was a quick T2, hoping to beat "her" out of T2. Not sure if I did...
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Run
  • 23m 10s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 07m 27s  min/mile
Comments:

did not stop to drink at all! Ran my butt off right from the start! at the turn around, did not see "her", thought maybe she changed/took off a shirt? Saw KimmyK (on the bike also!!) and Jeanne!
What would you do differently?:

nothing (maybe do some more speed work?) I DID beat her by about 1 1/2 mn on the run!! Talked to her after, she said her legs were trashed for the run! (guess I read her right huh?)
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

hard training during the week?? (not my usual "do nothing" between two race weekends!!)

Event comments:

Raced naked again...this time without a watch!! First time in 12 yrs! Really wish I knew my splits! Again, great race with great Donkey friends...lots of Donkey hardware!! Some great strappers there...Travis and Sandi, Terri and Holly...Thanks guys!

Pam - Very nice race again!  You are smoking the circuit this year.  And way to demoralize that lady w/o an age on her calf.  Next time, maybe she will play fair
