I'll be volunteering somewhere.  My husband (Macdaddy) is racing.  I think there will be a lot of the BT CO group there!

The bike is AWESOME.  It's fast.  Leave something for the run as it tends to be hot and it's on the dirt trails around the rez.  Usually they have cups of ice and cold water sponges on the run course which is really cool.  Good luck!

I'll be up there volunteering as well, but haven't heard where yet.  Good luck!  If I hadn't messed up my knee this year, I'd be there racing with you.

I'll be up there racing. I've done the other two races in the series and expect the HIM to be more similar to the 5430 Sprint course - just longer. If conditions are similar to the other races, the run will be hot.

Hard to imagine hot weather right now -- I wore a coat to work today   I'm "racing" in spite of feeling 100% unmotivated the last few days.  Looking forward to seeing everyone!  Meet in the beer tent after the race?

Will - The bike course is generally fast, but to be clear, the first part of it from the Res out to when you turn on Nelson Road is a lot of rollers and if you gun it too hard, you're going to have a hard time taking full advantage of the back half, if not the run. Keep in mind you have to go over this section twice, also. Once you do turn on Nelson the speed picks up quickly and for the most part, it stays fast until you're back on Hwy 119 and it's a false flat back to the Res. As for the run, like was mentioned, it's completely exposed and on a dirt road with some small waterbars that have formed so it's not completely even footing but I'll (and my knees) take it over concrete. There are two hills in about the first 1.5 miles or so and then it flattens out for the most part.

Good luck at the race!

Im in!
Did 3 loops on the bike course yesterday. Quite a steep hill leaving the res. Then a gradual climb with some downhills all the way to St. Vrain road. Then a nice downhill with speeds 40+ mph can be reached. Mostly flat after you turn south on 75 all the way back to the res.

I'm racing too.  My favorite part of the bike course is the downhill on St. Vrain Road.  Smile

I'll be doing this as well.  I've never done this race before but have heard that the bike is fast!  However, looking at the profile that Ace posted...doesn't look all that fast to me.  Unfortunately most likely I won't be able to get out there to ride before hand.

Go with what acefaster said. I clearly don't know my road names up there. Fortunately, I know where to turn. It's slow rollers that you don't want to kill yourself on until you turn on St. Vrain (not Nelson like I said before). Then it gets faster. Still, keep in mind you have to come back to the rollers again, as well as the false flat at the end.

funny, the bike course profile looks crazy, and I've always considered this to be kinda flat  Really, it isn't all that falt.   it has the gradual climb up jay and 36 to where 93 meets up with 36 from the left.  Then rollers.  On those rollers, you can still go pretty darned fast in sections.  There's chip seal past Nelson to St. Vrain.  Then that awesome hill on St. Vrain is killer.  75th st is mostly flat-ish.  There are a few rollers there and then 119 has the gradual uphill back to the Rez.

I'll be volunteering on the bike course, hopefully at a better location than where they put us for the sprint!

The profile seems skewed -- it says it's less than 400' elevation gain over 4 miles and it looks like mtn goat territory on the profile.  Haven't ridden the whole course yet but the beginning is just like the sprint and I didn't notice Jay Rd was uphill til someone mentioned it.   It's flatter than anything in our neighborhood   Should be a fun ride!

I'll be doing the race this year as well! I rode the bike course 2 weekends ago and it is a VERY fast bike course! You'll love it! Like everyone else says... ST. VRAIN is the best down hill!

The race is supposed to be pretty hot and offering NO SHADE at all on the run. But the run is pretty flat with a small climb! If you can hack the heat... you'll rock the race! Good luck man!

Got mine today!

Little bike stuff to care for, purchase more e-blox, & then some baking to do and I'm ready to go.  FINALLY!  I can't wait!

I got roped in to a relay team as well. Doing the bike leg. 90K time trial. Lucky me! Don't slack off too much on the first third of the loop, as you can lose more time there than you can likely gain in the downhill sections of the second third. That stretch down Vrain will allow for plenty of recovery (I'm usually spun out for about 1/3 of it, so let the bike do the work).

Just came off 10 day vacation, so I'm about as far from peak form as I can be. But it's an awesome race that is run very well, so barring any severe weather, should be a great time.
