Subject: Do I hear a hot dog eating challenge coming on?

We've had bike challenges, swim challenges, run challenges...   let's not forget to properly fuel our tri-bodies in the process.  I think a hot dog eating challenge is definitely in order.  Just think -  hot dogs...  the buns give us carbs, the weiner our protein, and the ketchup comes from a tomato, so in my book that covers the vegetable group!

Who's with me?!?!?

Ack! The hot-dog industry has finally infiltrated this web-site! I knew this was a hotbed for the hot-dog companies of the world. It's all over now.

Now we're talkin'. They must be the all beef variety, the only stipulation I'll make is whole wheat buns.

Sounds like a wiener, ahh, winner to me! (sorry, bad bad bad bad bad joke). When I lived in Milwaukee they had dollar dog & coke days at (then) County Stadium. Only way they could get people to see the Brewers play I think. But my friends and I decided to do a dog an inning and see who won. I made it to the 7th inning. And lost. Then a couple years ago here in Denver, we were walking to Coors Field and I came up with the brilliant idea to get a hot dog from every vendor I passed on my 6 block walk. Let's just say somewhere around the 6th inning I was really regretting that decision. Of course, it could've been the beer, too.

I'll particiapate but:

1.  No Ketchup  - too much like a vegetable

2.  No soy, tofu, cardboard dogs.  I once tried a soy dog and couldn't even stomach the texture - I actually spit it on the floor..and the dogs wouldn't eat it.

3.  You can only add to the dog items that actually bring the nitrate conten up..i.e. chili..bacon...bacon cheese

I'm going into training right now..  Actually why don't we have a weight loss contest but with the stipulation that you have to go up 100lbs and then back down...

LOL....  What's the point of a hot dog eating challenge if its going to be a healthy dog?  Make mine stadium bought w/ saurkraut and mustard.   But just one.

I've been pondering going into competitive eating. Last week after a 3hr ride I ate 3 full entrees for lunch. I'm the only one I know to hve successfully done the "Whole Milk Challenge". All that and I love nitrates. I'm IN!!!

Someone after my own heart (attack).

I have a dream of one day starting a summer holiday at Nathan's on Coney Island then hitting Grey's Papaya and Papaya King in Manhattan then taking a drive down to The Varsity and Nu-Way in Atlanta and then just work my way up to Chicago then out to LA to grab a dog at Pinks. It would be a dream vacation.

Mmmm.... love me some dogs.  Shout out to a great dive bar in northwest Pennsylvania for their "Margie dogs."   Load 'em up with chili, cheese, and some HOT peppers.  You'll be asking for a glass of milk to put out the fire if they do it right.

Wookie, the hot dog of choice should be the old forum' "steamie" or one from jarry Park. Man those were the days. Rusty Staub, John Ferguson and some good dogs, avec une bonne cinquante!

Well the old Forum is no more, Jarry Park is now a tennis stadium and the Montreal Pool Hall has never been the same since the fire. The best dogs in Montreal are actually at a Price Club outlet on Jean Talon though there is a little place on the south shore of Montreal on the Kanawake reserve called Hamburger Heaven that makes a chili dog that is really superb.
