Subject: Shark Week

It's Shark Week again and a triathlete was interviewed by CNN about surviving an attack. This guy is amazing! He lost most of his arm and almost drown, yet started swimming again in 2 months and only 1 year later has been competing again and in salt water no less. Scary, but great story. I'd likely stick to lakes after that.

Watched the story last night of the great white that swam up a river in NY back in 1916 and ate 5 people (inspired JAWS). Great way to kick it off.

Oh and how awesome are those whites that jump like 15 feet in the air trying to eat seals??? My wife said Ironman S.Africa and Australia are both out. Right now I am not going to argue.

Then don't google white shark sightings in California.  They're known to do that here as well on occasion

I thought they decided this was a Bull Shark?  Or was that in New Jersey?

That is true.  I didn't like the guy who traveled around (surivorman??) and talked ina  werid voice.  The music annoyed me when all the shark was doing was just swimming around.  They had it sound like your typical cheesey horror movie with the (dun dun dun dun)

I love Shark Week. I have to admit that I'm really afraid of swimming in the ocean for that reason. But nothing like watching them on TV!!!

Same story. The species of shark has never been established, with some evidence supporting Great White and some (namely swimming up a freshwater river) a bull shark. Most people settled on a Great White because a fisherman caught an adolescent Great White that had human remains in its stomach in the vicinity of Montauk and there were no further attacks.

One of the Shark Week producers was on this morning.  He says his efforts are to help stop shark finning, and the slaughter of 250K sharks a day.

By portraying sharks as maneaters during shark week

that makes a lot of sense

It's sort of ticking me off.

There was some show on during my lunch break that was showing how Tigers' senses work in looking for a meal.  Cool stuff, but I missed the end of it.

Congrats Florida, # 1 rated by Survivor Man (whom I don't care for either).

It irritates me when they give statistics on how many "attacks" there have been but don't say in how many years.
