Just wanted to see if any one has used CarboPro 1200 before.  I am in the process of trying some new things before I start the bulk of my IM training.  My local tri shop has started carrying CarboPro 1200.   It is a little expensive to buy for training rides ($14/bottle) but I would like to use them on some of the 100 mile group rides I have during the preseason coming up.

I've used it in the past and in fact and getting ready to order some for this season.  I actually use the powder- I'm thinking what you are speaking of is different since the powder isn't all that expensive.

I personally LOVE the stuff!  I mix it with GU2O to add cals and it works like a charm.

Have you thought about trying the powder?

From the website:

"

CarboPro 1200

Every drop is loaded! The 16oz. bottle holds 1,200 calories of pure energy and electrolytes for any endurance activity under the sun. A proprietary multi-level carbohydrate blend of ribose, dextrose, trehalose, CARBO-PRO, sodium, and potassium.

One bottle equals eight bottles of sports drinks or twelve gels. Each 16oz./480 ml bottle has six 80 ml servings, which provides 200 calories of pure energy from 50 grams of carbohydrates per serving. Each serving contains five grams of ribose, five grams of trehalose, five grams of dextrose, and 35 grams of carbo-pro.

CarboPro1200  is a balanced solution of four different forms of easily digestible and highly absorbable carbohydrates. Which means it contains four different kinds of substrates, a substance acted upon by a digestive enzyme. "

Sounds like a feed bottle.  You might want to try 1200 cals of regular carb pro with some salt pills.

I used it last year for IMLP. I had done all my training with regular carbopro powder, and tried out this stuff on my last long training day and on race day. Worked fine for me, and was pretty convenient - that one bottle was the only nutrition that I carried on the bike.  It's pretty syrupy in consistency, and you'll definitely want to water it down to make it easy to get out of a bottle.

It's not magical, but if you are used to carbopro, it makes things a bit easier logistically.

Sorry, I don't have any experience with CarboPro 1200, but it provides an interesting option for IM nutrition. Let's say I have 1 bottle on the down tube and an profile design aero bottle on the aero bars. I could fill the down tube bottle with CarboPro and that should last me the whole IM bike leg. I would fill the PD aero bottle with water from the aid stations to wash down the CarboPro and any extra gels I would also get from the aid stations.

I'm just trying to figure out my nutrition plan for IMAZ and I worry that getting my calories from Gatorade endurance, water and gels alone would have me needing to pee way too much.

I personally would half that one bottle of 1200 and put the 2nd one at special needs. (makes for (2) x 3 hour bottles) Have you tried the 1200 straight? It's very syrupy and for me after a few hours I didn't like it that way anymore. I don't carry water either. Seems like wasted space when it's available on the course.
