Subject: Headphones / Earbuds Recommendations?
My iPod headphones are rapidly dying...  Looking for recommendations for a good replacement.  I'm not a full on audiophile, but good sound is very important, and comfort while working out is important too.  The iPod ones were fine, should I go back that route?  Other options that aren't uber expensive?

TIA.

If you don't care too much about sound quality, grab yourself a pair of Skullcandy Inkds for $15 at any Fye or Sam Goody. The sound quality is about the same as pack-in headphones that come with most MP3 players. I like them because they are comfy, they seal out noise very well for the price range (I do most of my listening on the subway and the bus), and if I drop or lose or break them I'm out a whole fifteen bucks.

I got a pair of Ultimate Ears MetroFi 170 earphones once ($50) and the sound quality was awesome, but I have tiny ear canals and even the smallest tips that came with them hurt my ears. My boyfriend loves them, though. For another $20 you can get them with a microphone, so you can use it as a cellphone headset too, if you're into that sort of thing.

I break earbuds a lot because I'm not too careful when I pitch them in my gym bag.  I found a brand called "Gummy" that come in lots of fun colors and are only about $10 a pop.  And they sound just fine to me.

I'm gonna watch this thread. I have had the worst luck with headphones with ear buds - they fall out of my ears. Sooo I wind up getting the kind that are connected over my head (Maxell from Walmart) with no coverings on the ears (so no gross build up of sweat)...but sometimes they hurt my ears from being 'squashed' onto my head.

For GOOD in ear headphones, these are what I suggest from personal use. (Not in any particular order)

1. SkullCandy FMJs (Full Metal Jackets)
http://www.amazon.com/Skullcandy-Metal-Jacket-Earbud-11mm/dp/B000OY...

2. V-Moda in ear buds
http://www.amazon.com/V-Moda-Vibe-Earbuds-Gunmetal-Black/dp/B000V5L...

3. Shure in ear buds. Top of the line, very expensive

I had a pair of the skullcandys pull out on me. The V-Moda's I have are they iPhone ones. They have a speaker and a button. Purchased them around 3 years ago, and they still work perfectly!

Phillips does some Nike private label ear buds that I bought at Best Buy.  The sound pretty good for the price ($25) and stay in my ears well, which is an issue I've had with the Bose ear buds...

I use mine for running or gym, completely.

Have stock iPod buds & Bose, neither stay in well during running.

Anyone have a "sports orientated set"?

I have had very good luck with these from Sennheiser.  The extra little tab on them keep them in place.

I've had great luck with these Sony clipshttp://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=5335657&type=product&id=1051826204520. They won't come out, but by design they don't go deep into the ear canal. You won't get deep bass.  Up side of that is you can hear some external sounds, like those pesky cars and loose dogs. Custom fit plugs that you mold yourself http://www.earfuze.com/ might be worth looking into.

While not earbuds, I use the following two different sets that are behind the ear type.  The sennheiser are wired and the motorola are bluetooth.

I use the Sennhieser behind the neck headphones. They are a hideous bright green, sweat proof, and work like a charm!

I use something like these sony sports oriented headphones for running on the treadmill. The sound quality on mine blows, but they were free and my other ear buds don't stay in when I run.
http://www.amazon.com/Sony-MDR-J11G-h-ear-Sports-Headphones/dp/B000...

But if I am traveling light I use this pair of apple ear buds http://www.amazon.com/Apple-Earbuds-White-Gray/dp/B0001AP8CE/ref=sr...
They do a better job of blocking out sound then the stock ear buds.

If I am flying I have a pair of noise canceling Sony over the ear headphones, though I've decided that when one of the 3 big prospects that I have comes through, I'm going to reward myself with a set of Bose http://www.amazon.com/QuietComfort%C2%AE-Acoustic-Noise-Cancelling%...

I spend enough time on planes that a nice set of noise canceling headphones is soo worth it.

Two things I have problems with ear phone which I think everybody else have too, first is the protective cotton often to fall off, and second is the wires tangled when you do your workout..

I found that wireless headphone works best, I don't have to worry about the wires wrapped around the dumbbells or flying all over when I run, and the cotton is well secured so I don't need to buy a new earphone everytime I lost it.

It probably not as inexpensive as a conventional earphone, but it's a good investment if you can maintenance it well. They have the anti sweat too!! I just coinnect it to my phone and ring-a-ding I workout!

X2. I sweat a lot and earbuds slip out but the above are brilliant. Good sound and very comfortable. Also a little detail is the wire only comes from one side and has a clip to secure it to your shirt so it doesnt flap about too much. Perfect
