Comments:

Was up in the air as to whether I would even do this run today. Long bike yesterday, but since I felt ok this morning, I decided to go for it. Legs felt pretty rubbery for the first 1/2 mile or so, but started to get some rhythm after that. Did the first mile in 6:15. Had one guy (the eventual winner) running with me for the first little bit, then he pulled out to the lead which he kept the rest of the way. After that, the next person pulled up next to me and we kept pretty even for the first mile. She pulled a few feet ahead in mile 2, so I just stayed behind her until we got into mile 3. I really didn't care about beating her, but wanted to see if I could break 20 minutes today, so I kicked it in a little more during mile 3, and got ahead of her for good. Was watching the clock the rest of the way. Had to really push it the last tenth of a mile, but crossed the line just under 20.
What would you do differently?:

Not try to do a race the day after a long bike ride...

Event comments:

For the first running of a very small local race, it went quite well. They were well organized, and had decent food after. The weather kept a lot of people away, including (I'm sure) some faster local talent :). The rail trail is great for running.

To PR when you admittedly "don't feel it" is great!  It has to give you a lot of hope for what you could do when you are fresh!  Great job!

New PR??!?  Maybe you SHOULD do a long bike before every 5K!!!  Terrific job.
