Elite 4504 Columbus, Ohio | Subject: RE: USC vs Ohio State In Columbus... they haven't stopped talking about it since the end of the season last year. My take... OSU will lose. 1. The lines (offensive and defensive) could not move the smaller Navy line at all. All of the OSU line players are near 300lbs... Navy's largest was 265. Put them up against USC's line they will fold. 2. Pryor will be forced outside of the pocket. This will end up will hasty passes and bone jarring hits. He did throw a lot better compared to last year... but he could not run away from people like he did last year. Navy just had all the angels and stopped them in their tracks. Field goals from the red zone are not going to cut it against USC. 3. Defense untested. Yes, They had to prepare for a triple option and learn to deal with a lot of cut blocks from Navy. But Navy still dug in and ground out a 99 yard possesion for a touch down. USC has 5 backs that would play in and D-1 school, period, the young QB (whomever they start or put in) will just need to hand off the ball. That is not including all the WO options for a short dump or slant that baffles OSU every single year. But you never know. No matter what I will be watching the game... hoping that OSU can pull something out. I am sick of seeing them embarassed by teams because the coach plays it safe. |

Extreme Veteran 638 Carlsbad, CA | Subject: RE: USC vs Ohio State USC is gonna roll. If last year's spanking of OSU wasn't embarrassing enough, it should be worse this year when it's delivered to the vaunted Horseshoe by a true freshman QB. Don't even kid yourself into thinking this game will be close or competitive. |

Remember last year when Pryor had some pretty good success against them? (but wasn't left in the game because Sweater-Vest thought his senior should get the snaps). I think that could come-back to haunt USC. You mean in that game they lost by 32 points? Let's not compare him to VY until he actually starts producing near VY's level. Right now the only QB that can reasonably be compared to Vince is Tebow, and even he comes up short. If you want to make a VY comparison based on potential, start with Robert Griffin. Oh, and USC is going to decimate the Buckeyes. |

Oh, and USC is going to decimate the Buckeyes. Plus Pryor wants to be like Michael Vick. On his under eye black he had "Mika" under his right eye and "Vick" under his left for the Navy game. Let's just hope he doesn't own any dogs. Oh, and OSU does not have a firm grasp on who will be their main back... and no one could hope to replace "Beanie" Wells. Dan "Boone" Herron had a couple of good runs but could not get yards after the first hit. |

I think that could come-back to haunt USC. Not to pick-nits, but Pryor was 7/9 for 52 yards and had 40 yards on 11 carries. I'm a fan of USC. Not a FAN, but a fan and I can say that having watched probably 80% of their games over the last 6-7 years, Carroll's defenses have trouble against mobile QBs. I think USC will set a nice lead and OSU will catch-up toward the end to make it respectable. Oh, and Matt Barkley didn't have as much time to throw last year as he will all of this year. I think USC/FL will be the NC game (how's that for early predictions?) ETA: You lost me on the VY/Tebow comparison. Edited by GomesBolt 2009-09-08 12:12 PM |

If we're nit-picking, more than half of Pryor's stats came after the game was well in hand for USC. 5 of his 7 completions happened after USC went up 35 - 3. http://scorecenter.espn.go.com/ncf/playbyplay?gameId=282570030&peri... |

I also recall that the first-string USC D was still in the game until the gun because they wanted to keep OSU from scoring a TD. So Pryor wasn't going against the USC scrubs (I know, I know, a contradiction in terms). Edited by GomesBolt 2009-09-08 12:21 PM |

Veteran 928 Columbus, Ohio | Subject: RE: USC vs Ohio State As a lifelong fan and graduate of THE Ohio State University I can provide a very realistic view of this game.....and, unfortunately it won't be pretty. I love my Buckeyes and IMHO there is not a better place than the 'Shoe on Saturday. However, in college football talent trumps all and USC has more talent than the Buckeyes. Our o-line is just flat out big and slow! Nothing special in the backfield other than Pryor. I wouldn't use the Navy game as a comparison because of the type of offense they run, but that being said, our D is average. We will compete to win the Big 10 (11), but lately that doesn't mean a whole lot. Having said all of this I will be rooting hard for my Buckeyes as anything can happen! GO BUCKS! Oh, BTW, say all you want but we still have (and always will) THE BEST DAMNED BAND IN THE LAND!! |

Austin, Texas or Jupiter, Florida | Subject: RE: USC vs Ohio State No takers huh? In 2000, Miami had beaten Florida State and probably deserved to be in the championship, but then again, Washington had beaten Miami (rock smashes scissors) and should've been in the NC game. Either way, Oklahoma got a Florida State team that wasn't really deserving of their spot and beat them 13-2. Now, back to USC vs one of the two Ohio State Universities... I watched a little of the USC/SJSU game and a little of the Ohio State/Navy games on DVR and come to the conclusion that the gap will be wider, but not huge. |
