Event warmup:

ran to bicycle doctors to use their bathroom since all the other ones had long lines.......ran back, stretched, watched first waves take off
Run
  • 10m 16s
  • 2 miles
  • 05m 08s  min/mile
Comments:

wanted a good clean start so seeded myself front row to the right.....bang goes the announcers go and off we went. felt fine so just kept on pushing. felt i lost my wave by the first turn.......safe to say, nobody passed me on this run........
What would you do differently?:

nadda, this run felt uber juju'd!!!
Transition 1
  • 01m 10s
Comments:

wanted to stay relaxed and focused, thought i did that. thought this was faster but in setting my goal i figured a minute each transition so this was fine!

Bike
  • 58m 1s
  • 21.04 miles
  • 21.76 mile/hr
Comments:

wanted to push this and thought i did. kind of a bit (but not much) disappointed with the overall pace but, i'll take it. newbs didnt really affect me too much, mostly people were respectful if you called out "on your left".............nobody passed me on this ride.
What would you do differently?:

not much. push harder but still think i have some lingerings from last week hanging around inside me...........
Transition 2
  • 00m 55s
Comments:

again, tried to just stay relaxed and focused here. and again thought i did. goal was one minute for this so goal met!
What would you do differently?:

Run
  • 11m 34s
  • 2 miles
  • 05m 47s  min/mile
Comments:

felt a weeee bit sluggish at the onset of this one, never really did find a "comfy" stride either, but still happy with it.........and again, nobody passed me on this run!
What would you do differently?:

Post race
Warm down:

found family, found donkeys, drank water, drank gatorade, talked with peeps (included the doc from the med tent that helped me out last weekend at ironm*n)

What limited your ability to perform faster:

not much, some lingerings from last weekend affected my breathing on the second run, but.........not complaining at all, very happy with this race. Goal time was 1:23:00 and beat that, didnt have to sherpa jmwebs gear back to his vehicle and will be getting a nice slice of extra cheesy superoni courtesy of jmwebs as well.

post race meal was F'N HILARIOUS!!! group first wanted to hit main street in dousman to find a small cafe, nogo, then onto perkins in delafield on hwy 83 only to get outvoted, then over to what we thought was the water street brewery in delafield only to be in the wrong place, then ended up at the water street brewery. ironically, lunatick was not leading the group on any of these wrong turns!!! meal was so-so but conversation top notch:

some quotes from the meal:

pjgrande - well i was talking to Charles Benson and he said someday he wants to do one of THESE (as she is pointing to herself.........um, yeah)

pjgrande - (while eating an olive.) oh man, i bit as i was sucking and it shot down my throat!!!.......um, yeah.........

lunatick - shaddup penis breath!

nic - "i have no idea what just happened"

nic - PJ, how much does an IV bag way? about a pound? (PJ) not sure, depends on how much a pound ways.....(jmwebs) i would guess right around a pound.......

and special props to joerunner who, after chugging two bloody mary's, stumbled and tripped out of the door.......

Event comments:

midwestsports events has had a tough year. great race by a good group!!!

ahem...all righty then DJ...lets quote properly. I pointed to my HAT. (nice pink 70.3 hat). as for the pimento, thank goodness it didn't shoot right into my lung, like the pickle juice did.

AND, how about you and your leaky balls???

but, bottom line, no pics, didn't happen.

BTW congrats on a great race...even if it was a 1.9/21.04/1.9 mile race. jeesh can't they advertise correctly?? You were major speedy on that run, and your stride was dead on right from the start! NICE PR!!!

Awesome race.  AWESOMER post-meal.  After three wrong turns - SEEEE!!! I'm not the only one who has a terrible sense of direction!!  But like I said earlier - I embrace it

You killed it out there today - good job!  Sweet runs - too bad the 'other' fastest people in the midwest showed up too!!

And a few more corrections:
I thought we were going to Delafield Brewhaus, ended up at the Waterstreet Brewery
I had one bloody mary
The trip was staged for your benefit
But the fact remains that I had a good time in the few short minutes I was there with you all.

Awesome race.  You are soooo speedy.

Nice race, Davey. Rock solid bike pace sandwiched (did some mention food?!) by some inhuman run splits.

When I saw you start that first run, you look like you were shot out of a cannon. Everybody else in the wave looked like they were standing still. Excellent race!! You kicked it in the azz. Very awesome time hanging with you post-race!
