I just signed up for the Rev3 Olympic. My first Oly, I've done 4 sprints this year and plan to train hard for the Oly. I am also hoping to do a HIM later in the summer of 2010.

Ride the course before the race.  Its got some serious hills and its well worth pre-viewing.

I heard they changed the half rev course from last year due to athlete requests. I'll probably go sometime in the spring to ride it.

I'm debating on doing the HIM on that course, but undecided.

Ha, I just looked at the bike course.  One of the street names is literally called "Hard Hill Road"....whatever, everyone has to go up and down all the same hills.  Doesn't look like a course to go after a PR though.

Its still very hilly.  The whole area is hills, you literally can't go two miles without a decent elevation change, but its also very pretty and the Lake is great to swim in.

I'd really like to due this race. I haven't been back "home" CT since moving to NY 3 years ago. Looks like a great reason for a trip.

Just looking around for races and noticed this one. Haven’t done an oly before just a few Sprints. How would you guys rate this one on an experience level and difficulty.

Its a great course but both the bike and run are challenging with some pretty significant climbs.

As Kelly said, pre ride the course. It is similar to Griskus Oly course, which is vicious.  I think it is only a week or 2 before Griskus and am on the fence as I want to do Griskus again and it is basically the same race.

As we move closer, I'd be interested in a group reconnaissance mission for the Oly bike.

Okay - I'm totally confused about how many races there are at Quassy.
Let's see if I've got this right (most likely not - help...pls).

REV3 - Oly & HIM on back-2-back days, same weekend? Sat/Sun - June 5th & 6th ?
I have to say, for such a beautiful looking web site, I'm having a hard time figuring out exactly what races are taking place on which days. Or am i just trippin'?

The ad banner for Quassy on the REV3 page says "June 5th & 6th".
I found this information buried somewhere in the REV3 Race Series FAQ.
The "Feature" race for Middlebury (aka Quassy) is the the HIM and it's on Sunday June 6th.
From this information i guess I am to deduce that the Oly is on Saturday June 5th.

Then there is the Griskus, also at Quassy
Griskus Sprint - Wednesday July 7th
Griskus Oly - Saturday June 19th

For me it comes down to this.
Griskus Sprint - Definitely in for the that
OLY's both in June.
1. Should i even do an Oly?
I was going to do it last year, but injured myself traing for a half mary - so this year, yes for sure.

2.To Rev3 Oly or to Griskus Oly?
   Only one.

Cost comparison:
REV3 - $165 USAT (OUCH !) - but they do have a liberal reg transfer & medical withdrawal credit policy
Griskus - $85 USAT (the nice price)

Lastly - i have to agree with kaburns1214 - i did the sprint last year - the lake is GREAT!
I didn't find biking the hills as much of a challange as the the crowded narrow roads (esp when there were cars).
Wasn't crazy about the run (down to the botton then back up to the top of the hill), but whatev!
I still had a great time !
