Subject: At Least One BTer Will Carry the Olympic Torch... Are There More?

After entering a contest through Coca-Cola, I have been selected to carry the Olympic Torch during the Vancouver 2010 Torch Relay!  On November 22nd, I will run my segment, in Cornwall, PEI.  It's only a 300m segment, and I will definitely not be in any rush to finish!    I just received my torchbearer uniform in the mail yesterday... it makes it feel much more official!

Are there any other BTers out there who will be carrying the torch?  If so, when and where?

Well, each torch can burn for about 15 minutes, and I have .1875 miles to cover... So, I'm thinking about an 75-80min/mile pace... that should get me just about my whole 15 minutes' worth

OMG i cant believe there's others on here!!

I was asked 2 days ago to carry the torch from my friends mother who was with coca-cola!! I have to submit some details goals, along with why "I"  think i should carry the torch.

Im living in Northern ontario and hopefully will get to carry it somewhere between white-river and Marathon Ontario for about 5-10k because towns are 100km's apart 'round here Tongue out

Im hoping hard that i get to experience it. Hopfully others from BT get to also!!

Congratulations!!! Definitely take a pic of the uniform and post it.

I submitted by name to the Coca Cola and RBC contests and made it past the first round but never got any further than that.

I have a friend who carried the torch during the Calgary Olympics and I remember being completely inspired by her tale of her run. Congrats again!!!!

I'm not carrying the torch, but I'm hoping to get a uniform soon as I am volunteering. I have 10 games times shifts at the Richmond Olympic Oval (for long course speed skating). I'm part of the Athletic Services crew.

Have fun with the torch.

Sweeeet! You should definitely file a race report for that, along with the pics you have taken on the way. Bear it well! Bear it proudly! Most of all ... bear it slowly.

Awesome! Congrats!

My dad carried the torch for the Atlanta summer games as it passed through Virginia. He was so excited, he sprinted his short little run, and we could hardly keep up with him. It was hilarious. But he still has the uniform and the torch. It was very, very cool.

That's cool. I had nominated my sister 8 years ago when the Olympics were in Salt Lake City. She got to carry it in CA, her section was up a steep hill but she didn't care. She still has her torch displayed in her living room and she's moved 3 times since then.
